didnt someone on the OS board use whitening toothpaste to remove a stain on their leather 3 piece.

ikea sell a leather cleaner kit for about £6,not cheap i know but its alot cheaper than all the other leather cleaning kits ive seen around £20.
  • Just remember to test anything on an inconspicuous part of the suite first, just incase it causes colour removal ;)
  • Hi all

just wondering if anybody knows how to clean and look after a leather 3 piece suite?

We have just (foolishly) bought a cream soft leather suite, we have 3 dogs and 3 cats so will def have mud and dirt all over it. I have had suggestions from some to use johnsons baby wipes to handily clean and feed the leather and to use the lather from dove soap once every month to keep it supple.

Any other cheap ideas on how to look after it will be much appreciated.

Check if your leather is washable by dropping a drip of water in an inconspicuous area, if it remains as droplets, it is washable!!! If its absorbed, it isnt so you should dust it instead, or wipe with a barely damp cloth.
You can make a leather polish by boiling 1/2 pint of linseed oil, allow to cool then mix in 1/2 pint of vinegar. Apply with a cloth, then buff.
