How can i clean a leather suite / sofa

  • You can get Saddle soap from horsey/country type shops. I have never tried it on Nappa Leather or Suede but it didn't seem to affect the suede bits on saddles too much. I was very impressed in how much it took out the perma creases you get in suites - So much so that I intend washing in it from now on.

Do anyone know how i can clean my suite, its cream leather can not afford to get it cleaned by the proffessionals. But it really needs a good clean, before the weeked, as i am having a party.

    thanks in advance.

if you can get to an equestrian/horse shop, buy some saddle soap. It'll clean your sofa without drying it out. It's not expensive either. My husband uses it on his car leather seats.

However as you have a party, i'd be more inclined to clean it afterwards :rotfl:

there was a thread about this not long ago and someone recommended soap flakes in some water

i used to use baby wipes which are fab ,but apparently not good for the leather

now i just use a microfibre cloth dipped in star drops & hot water and wrung out so just slightly damp

quite shameful the amount of dirt that comes off a brown sofa onto a white cloth !!!

Ive read on soapflakes website about using it to clean leather suites.Apparantly its mild enough for skin and i can vouch for that cos i washed my dog in them the other week.

have used a specialist leather cleaner for car interiors before (i think it was zymol) and it was fantastic - might be worth a trip to halfords?
if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.

I got a kit from DFS, cant remember how much but it has the leather cleaning solution in it and a couple of soft cloths.
You can if you think you can!

It was me who recommended soap flakes.

I am sure that baby wipes are great to use for leather sofas.
I don't think that there is anything to hurt the leather.
