How about breaking down your meals into smaller meals so eating 5-6 times a day (but smaller portions) - this way you're not necessarily going for long periods without food.
Good luck with your venture
scales are important as to know if your under / over doing it or bang on
however its critical to stick to a set weighing in routine
ie once a week (your body fluctuates naturally in weight over a week, and over a day, so its once a week only)
so stick to
the same day
the same time
the same scales (to remove variations between different scales)
the same place (different floor surfaces can cause different readings, never weigh on carpet, rugs, squishy floors as it messes the scales up)
the same clothes (ideally nakid)
ideally first thing in the morning, after your ablutions and before you drink and eat (a mug of tea can add 0.6lbs)
this should give you a constant set of base data for comparison0 -
Have you checked out the calculator Eric linked to previously? In order to lose 2 lbs a week I'd need to stick to a smidgeon over 1000 cals a day. How many chips can you eat for that?
http://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html?ctype=standard&cage=46&csex=f&cheightfeet=5&cheightinch=6&cpound=227&cheightmeter=180&ckg=60&cactivity=1.2&x=78&y=14
quite a lot if you use an actiftry
would be about 1000g of spuds with 30g of extra virgin rapeseed oil
i doubt many people would eat a kilo of chips a day0 -

I honestly had no idea that was there. When you posted info you'd written before on the LC thread, you linked to your individual post so that's what I read, I didn't go looking for anything else or to see the thread the post came from.
Oh well, choice is a wonderful thing.Herman - MP for all!0 -

It is indeed, and anyway, i like us lot

:hello:Hello - room for a not so small one ?
What a great idea - a thread for emotional diet topics - and I am often emotional about my way of eating, but usually following a gain !
I am doing SW and mainly follow the EE plan - not advocating anything but do like this as you can eat meat and carbs together, things have moved on since the red/green days although these are definately still in play.
I couldn't agree more about buying clothes in my current "fat" size - I am loathe to do, as I don't intend to stay this size but that does mean that I am limited to 2 pairs of trousers for work, as nothing else fits.:o The only exception I make is for tops - as to be honest, the last place I lose weight is off my chest so it will be quite a while before I can squeeze these bad boys into anything significantly smaller !:rotfl:
As a previously teeny-tiny person, it is a struggle to accept that I am no longer like that and whilst it is unlikely that I will get back to my size 10 days, I can realistically aim for a 12 again.
(Think Beautiful South song - "she's a perfect 10 but she wears a 12" tra la la...
Onwards and downwards, whatever route you are taking.:)
M xI was going to take over the world but got distracted by something sparkly.......0 -

Good morning everyone:wave:
Well I am doing FANTASTIC I cannot believe I have made it to day 3:T
I had a panic moment yesterday afternoon as there was nothing remotely sweet in the house but I have stocked up this morning on some low cal sweet ish stuff so I don't fall off the wagon:D
How is everyone doing today? It is approaching the weekend is this a weak point for anyone? If so let me know and I will send you extra encouragement (or a kick up the a$$):rotfl::rotfl:
I am going out for dinner this weekend but thats ok I will eat a salad (no dressing) and I normally have a cooked brekkie but I will grill it all:D
I do not want to join any other diet threads I like this one (stomps feet):rotfl:
Seriously though I don't want to weigh in that will NOT motivate me:o0 -
Well done bubby. No more chubby!
Weighing's such a personal thing. I am a daily weigher, always have been. Over the years I've learnt not to get downhearted when there's an upward swing or a stall, and just to learn from it - whatever I've been doing isn't working. I agree with the weighing weekly too though - I only actually take proper notice of my weight on a weekly basis, but a daily check helps me feel 'stable'. It's helped me discover weird things over the years, like my period weight gain is actually the week after my period has finished. No idea why that should be but it's consistent.0 -
Well done to those who are being good. Bubby I love your enthusiasm, keep it up (and send some to me :rotfl:).
I've got family 'stuff' going on again at the moment so I just don't have the focus for proper eating iyswim. Hopefully after the weekend things should be more settled here and I can maybe start the week fresh.
Btw....did you all know that fuit is just tarty veg? :rotfl:(Love it Sarah :T:D)
Hiya and welcome to the new peeps, hope you feel at home here soon, and I'm glad to see others will be sticking around. I like this thread too.I wouldn't like weighing in either...I'd just lie. :rotfl:
It's a lovely sunny day here (at last!) so have just been out for a walk. I seem to be getting very tired very easily whilst walking now though so I'm thinking that's because I'm eating junk again.
I've decided I'm definitely going to get some sort of help whether it's counselling or hypnotherapy. I'd go to the Doc for help if I had any other addiction so I don't see why I can't treat my overeating the same way. Because of the kind of family we have, it's generally quite stressful here so if I don't find other ways to deal with things, I'm gonna be like a wee oompa loompa soon. Just not orange.
I would quite like it if I could get hypnotised into believing I hated all food except salad. Few months of that and I'd be sorted.
Happy Friday to you all!Herman - MP for all!0
