    Is this just a theory about the egg supply - I thought from an age point of view it was more to do with the quality of the eggs rather than the quantity.

    The guidance I have heard is that for seeking medical assistance when trying to concieve is 12 months for women under 35 and 6 months for women over 35 as this is the age that fertility starts to decrease rapidly.

    Yes, it is the quality rather than the quantity that counts, but as I understand it the quality decreases with time partly because the ovaries are exposed to FSH etc every month. You're right, it's a theory - I don't think anyone has proven for sure why some women are able to continue to have children later than most - but the fact remains that pregnancy when a woman is in her late 40s or 50s only ever seems to happen naturally to women who have already been pregnant at least several times before.

    Oh, and you're right, it's at 35 that the advice changes - sorry! It's been a while since I was very actively interested in the subject :-)
