Morrisons Rant!!

Hi,
I have just got home from shopping in my local Morrisons (Leeds Hunslet) and just had to vent this rant! I only went to get the Mario and Sonic Winter Olympics @ £18.99 as I discovered on here last night! (Also used £10 petrol vouchers so was £8.99 v happy!!) but decided i needed some other shopping too.
Firstly I waited at the audio bar for 15 minutes while the member of staff was on the phone saying that he couldnt start work at 1pm next sunday as he was off to London on saturday to see family and was travelling back on Sunday and didnt think he would be back in time. So was slightly annoyed about that but had calmed down by the time I got to the tills.
There was an elderly man infront of me who's card declined. The young bloke on the tills was really nice to him, explained what had happened and suggested he tried the cash machine. The old man was a bit confused as to where the atm was and so the guy on the till called over a supervisor and said when they had sorted the transaction on the till they could show him to it.
Now I know its saturday and the supervisors were running aroung trying to get more staff on tills, but the poor guy on the till had his light on for 10 mins and they ignored him. Eventually a female supervisor came over and bawled at the cashier for trying the card more than once, and then turned to the old bloke and pretty much screamed "You do this everytime you come in here, why havent you sorted it out yet" and then just carried on ranting at him about how its not her fault his card doesnt work its his.
My jaw dropped to the floor! The old man got a bit upset and confused until she marched him off to the cash machine, at which point the cashier apologised to me as I stood there dumbstruck. The supervisor then came back over and started mouthing of to me and the cashier about how stupid the old me was and he should have sorted his card. At which point it finished my transaction and said I wasnt interested in her opinion of other customers and left!!
I really cannot believe what I witnessed!
Maybe he does do this everytime he goes in but there really is no excuse for her attitude!
Sorry for the long post but had to write that to calm down! Am now off to write my snail mail letter to Morrisons customer service!!

Apparently they don't pay any overtime for workers so at busy times you'll seem workers just closing tills and clocking off.0 -
I know that Morrisons well as I used to work right across the road from it so used to go in most days and the staff there are rather rude to customers. I once asked the guy on the fish counter if a piece of fish had any bones in it of if they had been taken out. He just replied 'You're a grown up lad, it's no hardship to take them out yourself is it'.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

In the short time I had at a supermarket (I can't even remember which!) my supervisor complained at me for trying to find someone to help an old lady to somewhere she couldn't find. She came over and lectured me for calling her over for something 'so unimportant'. I literally had to restrain myself from punching her in the face, I left shortly after she was demoted. I think many Supermarket supervisors once given just that little bit of power think that they can talk down to anyone customers or staff.Male.

I just can't understand it myself. Ive worked in retail for years and am now an area manager for a discount retailler and everyone knows that good customer service only benefits you! But I think that the supermarkets have such power to draw people in with their range and prices that some people they employ think they can treat people however they want.
I have been in the situation of getting annoyed and stressed at situations that regularly occur but screaming at a customer just disgusted me!
I have written my letter now with a copy for the store manager and one for customer services. Will probably be thrown in the bin, but hey they deserve to know whats going on in their store!0 -
I've never been in a Morrisons that has had enough tills open-I also had to wait 20 minutes last week at the audio desk.
I only go in there for their loss leaders-would never do a weekly shop there.
Let us know the response you get from HOWho made hogs and dogs and frogs?

It probably won't be thrown in the bin and is likely to be acknowledged, only IMO nothing will come of it.Male.

In my experience "Morrisons" cashiers do tend to say hello before scanning your goods and sometimes help with packing. (other Supermarkets I visit tend to be silent and throw stuff at you!!)0

I cant say morrisons is the best, there alays seems to be queues at the checkouts whether its the basket only or the full checkouts,0

To be fair to the trade, I can honestly say there's never been a single time that I can remember where I haven't been offered a hand with my bags, at any supermarket.Male.

I went in yesterday morning on my way to work and there was the fast till working with 7 people in the queue with baskets, and one other till with 3 people waiting with trolleys. I decided i wouldnt bother and dumped my basket on the customer services desk in front of the supervisor. Who just opened her mouth in shock. I just said i havent got time for this and left.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
