Just activated my card, finally found out the credit limit, as they don't say in any letters!

Hmmm, it was on my letter - though in fairly tiny print!

I phoned to try and set up a full payment DD - they said they don't do them - i laughed and pressed hard - eventually was told I could write in - told the I wanted a chat with a supervisor - then negotiated with same person to send A DD mandate - not arrived after 5 days

Just got my card (with £4000 credit limit) today after applying on 26th May. Activation went smoothly, and I asked about setting up a DD. Was told to phone customer services (an 0870 number unfortunately) and they set the full payment DD up over the phone, no paper DD mandate to sign apparently.

I have a feeling that GE might operate some store cards and so perhaps the "in store" refers to this.

GE do operate at least the ASDA store and credit card, as well as the PayPal credit card. All of these have online acces too ironically - Maybe it will be available eventually for this one.

    Cheers

GE also do Debenhams and Bhs store cards (I have both but always pay them off straight away and only buy in the sales!).

I was accepted for the GE card, it arrived today. I only work part-time (but household income is OK when including my husbands) but I was a bit surprised to be accepted due to the humungous amount of credit cards we've both used (and never cancelled) for years of 0% balance transfer jumping.

The only thing is, I also currently pay some interest on an HSBC card (about 5% but I'm planning to pay it off this month with a Post Office credit card we've also had accepted in my husband's name - no fee balance transfers at 0% for 6 months, also got cashback from Greasypalm!!).:D

Maybe GE liked all our cards and the fact we have paid some interest this year?

    Thats the one!

Wasn't asked at all about Direct Debit when I phoned up, might just pay it each month manually to make sure it is paid, until someone confirms they really can set up a full DD properley.

    Cheers

Oh dear, that wouldn't be very useful would it?

I hope mine doesn't turn out to be like that!

This is a very difficult card to obtain. I have a faultless credit record and still no acceptance. I asked at GE Money for any clues as to why I was rejected and they just refered me to Experian. I already have a recent copy of my credit record so I am 99.9% certain it has little to do with the rejection. I would suggest that GE Money are actually looking for people who may not have a perfect credit record as this would mean they could claw back some of the money they pay as 3% rebate back in potential late payment fees and balance interest charges.

Jkappes, this thread details a wide variety of people who have and haven't got the card - I for one have never defaulted a payment, and pay off my current card in full every month, and I got accepted. However, others the same as me, didn;t. Who knows what the criteria is ! :)
