GE '3%' Cashback Card

Jkappes wrote:This is a very difficult card to obtain. I have a faultless credit record and still no acceptance. I asked at GE Money for any clues as to why I was rejected and they just refered me to Experian. I already have a recent copy of my credit record so I am 99.9% certain it has little to do with the rejection. I would suggest that GE Money are actually looking for people who may not have a perfect credit record as this would mean they could claw back some of the money they pay as 3% rebate back in potential late payment fees and balance interest charges.
Credit score 999 out of 1000
Only balances I have are on 3 cards 2 at 0% and the other 3.9%LOB. I never pay interest (except the 3.9% LOB) and have never defaulted. The credit limit on my 6 cards I hold total well over £40K+
There doesn't seem to be any pattern as to whether you get this card or not.

Got email confirmation weeks ago, but never receive the actual card. 2 days ago receive a credit card form from GE but it was a standard credit card with no mention of 3% cashback, as it was a freepost envelope, I wrote back to them with the rest of the junk returned back to them in the envelop & politely told them not to send me junk mail!!!!
I myself are like some of you, nothing to transfer, paid in full & have other credit cards as well. Only interested in their 3% cash back!!!
I must be one of the rejected applicants since they will not be able to claw back any ££££ from me!!!0 -
Can someone with a rejection letter please tell me what it says about appealling (I shredded mine a bit too hastily).
Does it say anything about including a copy of your credit report?
In some ways I'm not too bothered because I wonder how long the 3% with last and they seem to be hassle to deal with.
But I've already sent off my appeal (without a copy of the report).0 -
Does anyone know if you can access the GE credit card account online or is it a post and phone only thingy?
I've had a quick look at the website and can't find any login area.something missing0 -
I've received my PIN number this morning at last. Like others it doesn't actually say what type of card it is, so it must be a generalised letter to cover all their cards.
Ads:- Although I haven't received the card and first statement, a lot of card companies usually let you pay via internet banking. At least all mine do. Normally on the back of your first statement there will be information on how to pay. This usually included the banks sort code and account number. If it doesn't there will be a help number so you could ring up and ask for it, explaining you want to pay via internet banking. This has always worked for me.0 -

You get a leaflet with the card itself which gives details. Payment can be:
At a bank
By post
By direct debit
By telephone or internet bankingStompa0 -

I need Morrisons, Somerfield and Waitrose to be on the list or I am wasting my time.
I spoke to customer services today and asked for a list or definition of "food" purchases - pointing out that there is a lot of confusion out there on what constitutes "food". The woman I spoke to at GE admitted that she too was confused (?!) and would speak to her manager about a clearer picture and would get back to me. I am not holding my breath but have her direct line if she does not come back. Will let you know.0 -

Was told to phone customer services (an 0870 number unfortunately) and they set the full payment DD up over the phone, no paper DD mandate to sign apparently.0
