  • Reintroduce cookery lessons as a core school subject.
This will ultimately cut the cost of dealing with obesity & teach those on low incomes how to prepare & cook cheap meat, veg and puds – thereby making state benefits go further.
  • When booking with airlines ban multiple leg card charging
  • Reduce the cost of appeals to the Crown Court following a guilty verdict at the Magistrates' Court. Most of these appeals are at public expense just "because they can". In addition the format is not appeal like - it's more of a retrial where their defence can change completely!
  • Introduce school system, used extensively worldwide:
if you have not reached a certain standard at end of school year you don’t move up to next class – no kid wants to stay down a year. Resulting improvement in pupils’ attitude, behaviour & levels of literacy saves money spent correcting these issues.
  • When booking concert/airline tickets on line if credit or debit card fees apply, they should only apply to the whole booking and not each individual ticket. That's if they should apply at all, after all you don't get charged for using either in a shop.
  • GPs are now earning over £100k p.a. and yet my surgery uses an 0844 number to take calls just so they can have a cheap telephone system. Please stop them doing this - costs more than you think, as getting past their automated system often takes several calls.
  • You buy a service as a one-off, give out your credit card number, and 12 months down the line they take money again unless you have remembered to cancel. Even if the service is no longer possible and they don't supply anything at all, you still have to pay. Year after year. Re-use of card numbers without notification and authorization from the holder should be illegal.
  • Why can't Financial Institutions be forced to offer competative rates on cash ISA's. Several current accounts and regular Savings accounts offer better interest rates than the miserable ISA rates, even allowing for the Tax free element; higher rate tax payers excepted. The Banks are taking the * as usual.
  • Savings account rates often change without us noticing. Banks should put current interest rates of the account in question prominently on bank statements - including on internet statements.

Tax credits should not be sent to addresses in Europe (ie East Europeans). There is no method for checking the financial status of the family as a total and many are not eligible!!
Would this apply to brits on the continent and their heating allowance?
