Make new increased student fees tax allowable where parents pay.
To give benefits to "poorer" background students recognises the fact that "wealthier background" parents are obliged to support their children. Who then pay twice via tax to support "poorer students" as well.0 -
All we hear about are cutbacks and redundancies. Create jobs instead of paying people to be unemployed, sort out our roads and railways. Reducing unemployment means people have more money to spend, this helps businesses and the recovery of this decline. Reducing unemployment is the key. Gov't will collect money from taxes, won't need to pay benefit to these people and if it helps our infrastructure it will boost our economy. Create jobs, create wealth. Basic economics. Also, punishing people for being unemployed by stopping benefits! Really this is the wrong time to do this. It is very difficult to get a job just now.0

I keep my energy use down for cost reasons and the environment, it would be great to see a lower users rebate applied by energy companies to encourage a greener approach to home energy useage, rather than just making money from it.The devil makes works for idle hands0

It is very difficult to get a place in a state nursery - unless you have specific needs like a single mother. The rest of us have to pay private nursery fees, which in many cases makes it a waste of time working as you are simply passing your earnings over to the nursery. Most families don't get help with this.0

I currently receive both electric and gas bills not only in the same month but the same week.
I suggest that they get together and agree to send out bills so you only receive 1 a month , say ELECTRIC- jan, GAS- Feb, WATER - March, giving people time to save up and save all the RED Letters from the companies.0 -
The reason pupil behaviour in schools is so bad is because of a change in attitude of society. Parents often do not agree with the school and will not show support to staff. This sends out the message that it's ok to be abusive to a teacher or disrupt lessons. If teachers/schools had more power, this could change. Fine the parents - it'll soon change! We're far too lenient, always making excuses for children being disobedient.0

It should be compulsory to fit these during winter months, as it is in other European countries. One look at the current problems north of the border amazes me that the Scottish Parliament haven't made this a legal requirement already.Next post follows in a moment ...0

Relax the ISA rules so that (a) shares listed on The FTSE Small Cap and AIM exchanges can be included and (b) covered call options can be written against shares held in ISAs.0

It is increasingly difficult for genuine non-criminal savers to provide the required ID when opening online accounts. Copies of documents certified by a solicitor, bank or accountant are now required to be mailed in. Insist that all customer-facing savings institutions agree to view originals at their premises.0

Those of us who choose alternative homes are often left out of Government schemes and initiatives ie free solar panels, warm front heating etc. We live on a boat and try to be green but such incentives only apply to bricks and mortar. Our homes should count too!0
