  • Empower the Royal Mail and Banks to provide information to either the Police or Social Services of addresses or accounts where questionable volume of usage exceeds reasonable norms. Its done for Money Laundering. A lot of information is already captured, just not used. Savings would benefit individuals and State.
  • I opened saving accounts for my mother and they all had similar but different guidance on ID requirements, including what ID must be less than 3 months old. One took six months to do involving Ombudsman! The AA and BOS (the same group) interpreted the same requirements differently! Bonkers. All said sorry FSA requirements. Wrong. FSA should publish standard requirements so if we do it once, we can do the same again in confidence at a different institution.
  • The banks often offer good rates on savings accounts only to reduce them soon after you open an account. If they were forced to display current rates clearly on all paper and on-line statements it would prompt customers to 'move' their money and thereby discourage the banks from this practice.
  • Charge small fixed rate for OAPs travelling on buses

Charge say 50p for every journey. This isn't a great deal but might make a difference to bus companies and allow them to revise some of the cuts that have been made recently. If anyone really finds this too much then an exemption cert could be issued. This would still be cheaper than parking rates.

Restore employment services jobclubs & directly incentivise new businesspeople to fill vacant shops. Jobclubs were cheap to run & linked motivated available staff with employers without charge. With 10% of retail properties vacant in the UK, if rent/rates/vat/NI were waived for a year, many new businesses could launch costing the government nothing.
  • We can change gas, electricity, phone, TV service etc providers but not water. I am very dissatisfied with my water company usually I would vote with my feet but I have no choice but to put up and shut up.
  • Reduce duty on alcohol sold in barrels in pubs. Heavily levy additional tax/duty (by unit) on bottled and canned alcohol.
Effect is youths deterred from purchasing expensive alcohol (presently sold at a loss in supermarkets), preferring to drink in cheaper, controlled environment. Saving? Street violence reduced and longer-term, healthier young adults.

To avoid undue stress on our benefit system/NHS, allow people to come into Britain but put a 3 year 'settling' period in place during which they won't be able to claim any benefits or health care costs in this time.
  • If a supplier forces a customer to sign up to a contract for a minimum period of time then the supplier cannot make significant changes to the service during the contract period.

Would protect consumers from unexpected price increases or changes to the quality / nature of the service they've signed up for. Some exceptions could be incorporated, e.g. where there are changes to legislation, tax changes etc. but then the customer should have the right terminate immediately with no fees / charges applied.
  • Sadly many of us that have had family in hospital would be willingly pay £3 a day for food - PROVIDING THAT A CARER MADE SURE IT WAS EATEN/FED TO THEM! Charging wouldn't work, by the time the NHS added on extra for admin it would be prohibitive - everyone capable would be sending out for takeaways! Bring back basic care as a vital part of nursing.
