As companies get a share of the revenue for these calls; there is an incentive for them to prolong the call – examples being lengthy menus, music on hold etc
If charging for these calls only started when you were connected to a person, call times & costs would drop significantly0 -
How about the government working alongside energy companies in charging the higher tariffs to the people who use up the most gas and power supplies day in day out whilst sat home. If your cold and bored go do something useful like community service/volunteering or perhaps find a job hey??? Obviously...im not referring to the elderly/disabled or stay home parents....im referring to the work dodgers who are wasting valuable energy sat idle watching daytime tv or playing online bingo all day blah blah whilst bleeding the energy resources as well as the benefits system dry.0

Put aside some money (1 billion?), give it to themost successful of the ´casino´ bankers and tell them they can keep half the profits tax-free0

Give full-time university students full maintenance loans instead of means tested ones, then recoup from parents through tax code as this would stop parents refusing to complete forms or pay AND cut wait and costs and jobs at Student Finance.0

Can we abolish road tax? YES. Add 10p to each litre of fuel. Those who use the roads the most pay for the upkeep. NO TAX DODGERS, if they want to drive they have to pay, foreign drivers pay as well.
Oil companies pay the government 10p per litre sold. Simple!0 -
All vehicles coming into the country must buy a clearly displayed road permit for visit period (4 weeks to six months) and produce valid insurance and MOTequivalent to cover that period. Any vehicle remaining in country after permit expires must be re-registered in UK and taxed, insured and MOT'd under our laws. End the un-taxed, un-insured un-road-legal foreign cars running around on our roads.0

A minimal annual tax on all vehicle pulled trailers for classes B-E which are being pulled on Public highways this could bring revenue into the country's coffers after all trailers have as much impact on the roads as some light vehicles.
Not a popular choice mind0 -
Make all public sector workers pay a equal pension contributions. some civil servants are paying no pension contributions or only 1% and receiving a full pension. Whilst some emergency services staff are paying 8-11% minimum and potentially rising higher again, both groups pay scales are quite comparative but need to be brought in line.
More than 50 words but would save the country a fortune in paying pension money for nothing0 -
If everyone contributed to a pension it would save the government millions, My husband was a fireman and paid 11% (approx £250 per month) of his wages towards his pension and as a Auxiliary nurse i contribute on average £60 per month towards mine ! Why do a lot of government workers get it free?
