I wouldn't let them refund. I buy and sell on eBay and if a listing of mine doesn't go for as much as I'd hope, that's too bad. I'd never contact a buyer asking to cancel. As a buyer, I just bid for and won a car & garage so I'm well chuffed!!!
And no, I've not sold any Hamster stuff - too busy trying to buy them for my DD! I sell personal things - clothes, toys, smellies etc.0 -
funny.onion i am a mum and i agree with your ocmments about the kids but cant you see this thread alone is creating the demand. Even the shops are now posting on here to advertise free when they have stock in and making it look like they are doing you all a favour (even though they may only have a small stock they are still managing to shift it).some of the retailers would never have sold stock if it hadn't have been for people on here searching it out and informing others where to go and of course all the people who are not registered on here do a google search read the post thread and beat you all to the items (you are giving ebayers the heads up) . i got all the hamster stuff after going everywhere for it and then the kids told me they didnt want them! but i am glad as i would be horrified to see it sat on a pile after christmas unplayed with.
if your kids really want them good luck to you all and i sincerley hope you get them.:T0 -
If you bought a hamster or other item at a low price then I advise you to check any parcel before signing for it in case a seller sends you an empty box.
Sorry to be cynical but this is a trick used by crooked sellers to get out of sending an item they wanted to sell for more. They will win a paypal dispute because you signed for the item.
Tricky I know, but tell your postman you are concered about the parcel and do not sign to accept it unless you know the contents.Went to the paper shop - it had blown away.0 -

due to ebay problems at time of listing . Is it ok for me to refund you and relist item to get a realisic price for this item.If you have noticed the ebay search isnt working correctly and ebay only showing buy it now items not auctions.
Please let me know asap
can i do anything?
If ebay dont put up a notification to this effect then a seller HAS to complete the transaction.
If they dont you can report them to ebay and give them a negative feedback.
I would perhaps tell the seller that you appreciate the sale was a bargain on your part but that they are now 'out of pocket' for £1.49 and as such you are willing to pay £9.99 plus postage... If they failed to agree I would then quote ebay rules etc...0 -
Just won one on ebay - managed to get in at the last minute and paid £6.21 by paypal for it - a bargain I know. Have just had an email from the seller to say they will not honour it!!! ANybody know if this is allowed?
No. Forward the message to ebay....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
lizdav, sorry for asking, I've came into this thread after oooh 100 pages :rotfl:What is the background of yourself and Maximouse, how come you know so much/have so much contact with the suppliers?
Its a good job I managed to find a previous post I did just a few days ago answering a similar question to this: I've managed to accumulate all my information just through a lot of time spent initially ringing around and e mailing companies. I just blatantly ask what, when, and what time, ha, ha, then post it to the forum. Also when websites have had problems like potential security issues, I have e mailed them to give them details and they are grateful so when I contact them again with a query for posting on this forum, they tend to reply. No insider knowledge, no connection with any of the companys, no kickbacks, just research, hard work, and being polite me thinks...Oh, and I'm a Nurse...:snow_laug Maximouse loves the build up to Christmas :santa2:0 -
on another note maybe you should all pm each other when stock is available instead of posting:T0

ahhh but you can then file a 'significantly not as described' dispute, ebay/paypal will process it and request that you return it via 'trackable means' (ie recorded delivery) once delivery of the return is confirmed they automatically refund you from the sellers payment source.0 -

If I spot a Stradivarius violin at a boot sale and the seller wants a fiver for it then I am entitled to get it authenticated and sell on ebay for five grand.
However, I do not think it is fair for anyone to go into a shop and take as many toys as they can fit in their trolley with the sole purpose of selling on ebay.
Of course if someone buys one and then another one thinking they may be able to sell it on ebay to offset the cost of them buying something they couldn't get hold of then fair enough.

I have 4 hamsters listed on ebay. I didn't buy them to sell, it has come about that I have ended up with surplus that I have tried to swap. I have helped MSE-ers by passing on surplus things at RRP and also swapping, to the point that all I really want now is a ball. I have tried swapping for a ball, but cannot get one. My hamsters are listed at 99p and it's up to the buyer what they bid them up to. Any profits beyond RRP and reasonable expenses, are to be donated to the Anthony Nolan Trust in memory of my Grandfather and some very close friends, all of whom I have lost to Leukaemia. I am not trying to make a quick buck. I had actually contemplated returning the hamsters to the stores involved (I have had friends and family on the look out you see!) but haven't done so because I know that ebayers are trawling the stores.
I went to tru this morning and queued up for Mr Squiggles because someone had promised me they would swap me a ball for Mr Squiggles. They went back on their word and have sold it on ebay. I am not gonna name and shame, they have their own conscience to live with - (if they have one!). So please, do not think bad of me. I have tried to do the best I can all around. If anyone has any doubts on my integrity, you can ask ella ella ella, obsessedwithhamsters and 2 others who I have helped/tried to help directly, whom I have for got their screen names, but "real" names start with J and D.
I just wanted to make that clear because I have openly said I have got hamsters on ebay.:xmastree:0 -
