I knew it was too good to be true, i won num nums on a auction earlier for £8.50 now the seller has sent me this.

due to ebay problems at time of listing . Is it ok for me to refund you and relist item to get a realisic price for this item.If you have noticed the ebay search isnt working correctly and ebay only showing buy it now items not auctions.
    Please let me know asap

    can i do anything?

hi,why dont you mail them back, thanking them for there honesty, and say your in a situation where you dont know what to do...tell them your daughter /son now thinks she is getting num nums after weeks of not finding it!!!play on their sympathy...OR pay for it via paypal....im a seller and ANY decent seller would complete the transaction..i cannot stipulate that enough!!!!!!!!do not agree to cancel purchase as they get fees back if you mutually agree....your covered by paypal so pay for the item...then the ball is in their court!

    "
Title search outage of one or more hours
In the event of a title search outage of one or more hours, eBay automatically credits all associated fees for affected listings. The following listings will be eligible for credit:
    • Any listing scheduled to end during the outage
    • Any listing scheduled to end in the hour after the end of the outage
Unlike our policy for hard outages of two hours or more, listings will not be extended."

I bet ebay's in for a harsh few days, though!

its the sellers on ebay that have caused this stock shortage isn't it?

    Don't agree.

eBay accounts for about 1% of all sales and isn't a major influence.

could it be this site creating the demand????

I paid for the item straight away through paypal.

I have just recieved this back from the seller now. only 14 people got to see my auction item should have sold for over £20 most of ebays servers have been down for a few hours.Only buy it now auctions have been shown
  • ahhh but you can then file a 'significantly not as described' dispute, ebay/paypal will process it and request that you return it via 'trackable means' (ie recorded delivery) once delivery of the return is confirmed they automatically refund you from the sellers payment source.

yeah, but the seller then can do the same, and actually refuse to sign for the item, therefore it gets return to sender, again, so it would come back to you, or be lost. ebay will only refund you either way if there is a trackable signature ONLINE. NOT even if you have a copy of the signature faxed to them. This happened to me once. The signature wasn't online, but royal mail sent me a copy of it in the post, which I then faxed to paypal to confirm the buyer had recieved his goods but even then, because they couldn't source the signature themselves, online, they refunded the guy. I was pretty !!!!ed off. To say the least.!

If anyone gets their purchase on ebay cancelled then i would watch the seller and see if they relist the item and check how they post it....if its not recorded(as paypal stipulates) id bid again and pay what it ends and a ..............well you can guess the rest....if its not recorded it never got there!!!(paypal will refund you unless they have tracking number)and im honest!!!but angry at the sellers making a mockery out of ebay!!!i sell alot and would never ever refuse to sell to a winning buyer!!!unless they were hanging round Nigeria and offering western union of course

I have 4 hamsters listed on ebay. I didn't buy them to sell, it has come about that I have ended up with surplus that I have tried to swap. I have helped MSE-ers by passing on surplus things at RRP and also swapping, to the point that all I really want now is a ball. I have tried swapping for a ball, but cannot get one. My hamsters are listed at 99p and it's up to the buyer what they bid them up to. Any profits beyond RRP and reasonable expenses, are to be donated to the Anthony Nolan Trust in memory of my Grandfather and some very close friends, all of whom I have lost to Leukaemia. I am not trying to make a quick buck. I had actually contemplated returning the hamsters to the stores involved (I have had friends and family on the look out you see!) but haven't done so because I know that ebayers are trawling the stores.
I went to tru this morning and queued up for Mr Squiggles because someone had promised me they would swap me a ball for Mr Squiggles. They went back on their word and have sold it on ebay. I am not gonna name and shame, they have their own conscience to live with - (if they have one!). So please, do not think bad of me. I have tried to do the best I can all around. If anyone has any doubts on my integrity, you can ask ella ella ella, obsessedwithhamsters and 2 others who I have helped/tried to help directly, whom I have for got their screen names, but "real" names start with J and D.
I just wanted to make that clear because I have openly said I have got hamsters on ebay. :o

i'm in a similar position myself, i have spare hamsters due to thinking that orders hadnt been processed but actually have. i've had no luck trying to swap for what i want so will list my spares on ebay soon to raise the money for the items i am after. i'm pretty sure ebay will have to allow people to not honour items they have sold at low bids as its not just hamsters being sold on there and there is a technical error on their part.
i hope you get your money back on your hamsters and make some extra for your charities- good luck! :o
