lol I love the pictionnary there Ali!

Bless her, she'll be in for a shock if she does read this, or maybe she's saving herself by not!

    But anyway.
Day off for me today as well, glad to have two off in a row to be honest, I'm cream crackered!

BF came round last night, had dinner watched a dvd, and I think the past few conversations we've had have shown that neither one of us has been perfect. There were apologies as well as some honest home truths so here's to hoping things can change and we both start making an effort in the areas we need to.
I'll say no more on the subject because my head is starting to hurt!

Today I plan on staying indoors, aside from a trip to the P.O to send an ebay parcel, so thats a bit of money spent again but oh well!

I've worked out that I owe the New York fund
    £50 from Ebay sales
    £10 Mystery shop dosh
£25 money that I "borrowed" from it

Hopefully in Nov Quidco should pay out another £59.60. So thats me getting closer and closer to clearing the very first debt!
Seems strange that its taken me this long!
I think I've been concentrating too much on the CC, when if I could clear the smaller one (which incidently have a higher APR anyway!) then not only will I have saved in interest but I'll emotionally feel better about my progress.

I shall see how much I end up with in the New York fund because I will use that to pay off the store card, but its easier for me to save into that fund because its something I want, as opposed to saving to pay off store card, iyswim!
I may also then top up whatever I end up with at the end of nov, to clear the store card completely! We shall see!

    Hey Lady

Thanks for the welcome a few pages back! I just wanted to chirp in with a couple of things. Maybe you need to re-do your budget to allow for a little more spends? That way you can buy some new things without feeling like you've let yourself down. At the start of my debt clearing I did a 'slash and burn' of the SOA and spent nothing, but now I am chilling out a bit and I want to have a few more luxuries. It sounds like you're in that place too. Maybe you need to make a more reasonable budget going by your spending diary?

Also the New York fund - that's really exciting and a special treat, but why do you 'owe' it money?! Surely that's a reward over and above the debt you manage to clear, and not something else that you feel bad about not paying to the full?

Give yourself a break - but do it within the framework of a budget :)

Also the whole b/f thing - I am *no* expert anf it's probably relly rude of me to comment. But it doesn't sound like you get to do much fun stuff together. You know you are young (same age as me) and it is ok to go out with someone not for life just because you enjoy their company. Are there any nice things you could do together to rediscover that sense of fun? Dancing, special dinner, cinema, sports etc. Sometimes when you're unsure of what to do it's best just to take one day at a time, but to really *enjoy* every day.

Aanyway just my silly opinion! Hopefully things will work themselves out i the best way, and you're doing really great. You should still be basking in the glow of the new job - that's a great achievement!!

    Aww thanks Lara,

That was actually a really helpful post.

I guess my problem is is that I still dont feel like I'm truly making any impact. I know I shouldnt compare myself to other people, but I'd be more than happy after a couple of months to start putting some fun back in, but I'm annoyed with myself for my current lack of self control. I've still spent over £100 this month on just myself!

As for owing the new york fund. Any extras that I've made i.e ebay I wanted to use to put into the new york fund, see it as savings if you will. So the paypal money was transferred into my current acc, which has been eaten up by my normal spending, etc etc. Thats why I feel like I owe it money.

And I am still dreadful at this whole budgetting thing. Hence the doubtfulness of the full watt lightbulb moment, or whether I'm deep down, sabotaging (sp?) myself.

As for the bf, i get what you mean, we dont have much fun anymore, mainly because neither of us have the money and we've got too caught up in the day to day business as it were. but I thik we're both going to try where we can, and see where that takes us.

Mmm.. I know what you mean. My partner has to put up with me being super stingy even though for him he has for the first time got lots of disposable income. He is happy to pay for me to do things but I am not happy about that.

In my budget I have £30 per week that has to do all the general spends and it is also my going out money. Sometimes I go a bit over that by £5 but I am ok with that. Now we try to decide what nice thing we will do in the week at the beginning, so I spend most of that up front and the rest I know I can safely fritter away!

We take advantage of restaurant offers, do Orange wednesdays, go for a drink in happy hour. It isn't forever, either as I'll be semi-debt free in Jan, and neither will it be for you.

I hope you do Pigsback anyway for some of those Arcadia vouchers - I have had 3 since August :) When I go splurging in the sales in Jan at least I will have a bit of backup!

Anyway hope things go well with the b/f :) And this debt thing, it doesn't matter about the mistakes that we make, if we keep on going back to paying it all back time after time, we'll get there in the end. Then good moneysaving will be our habits - a good lesson to learn young imho.
