    Morning all!

Jayne - I too think you are extraordinary, and that the kitten is a great idea for George, Burmese make lovely pets, and I'm so glad you have your husband back home and are recieving lots of real life support xx

N9eav - thinking of you xx

Essex - hope all goes well xx

Bitsy - glad you got some sleep xx

Aussie - glad I'm not the only one who gets a sack of onions as a pressie! I asked oh what I need to do to become a choc and flowers kind of girl and he just gave me one of those looks and said that his butcher mate was sorting out my sausage skins for me! xx

Molly - hope that the new treatment brings you some relief xx

Redruby - will try cooking onions before freezing next time, usually I just chop and freeze them, but then you need make sure they are in a totally airtight container! xx

Well it's wet and gloomy here today, no surprise as I wanted to bbq tonight, so you can all blame me for the weather!

Jobs today will involve some paperwork and bills, all online so not too onerous so long as I concentrate and don't get distracted! Hoovering entire house, sorting out the kitchen - things migrate from the cupboards to the worktops whilst I'm working, so by Thursdays it's always cluttered as there aren't that many surfaces! No wonder oh keeps on about shelves! Also need to sort out kids' bathroom, myriad of bottles and lots with missing lids, may investigate pump dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and bath gloop - any other ideas gratefully recieved peeps? Other than that more washing and a chicken to joint and marinade in yoghurt and tikka stylee spices, will do for kids dinner tomorrow unless they find it and bbq it tonight!

Lunches: hm chicken tikka pasties (bit of a theme today!) and/or sausage rolls (found a few left at back of freezer, must get on and make some more though), apple/satsuma, cheese chunks, choc muffin

Dinner: bbq - Hugh's homecured bacon steaks, sausages, burgers, coleslaw, potato salad, hummous and pittas, olives, green salad with avocado and bacon

Missed out here yesterday, had a nap after kids went to school, then did a dash to meet a very os friend, who arrived with hm bakewell tart (made by another friend who is an amazing cook) and some blue potatoes from her garden, she def won the os badge, I arrived with much puffing and panting and the promise of the remote to go with the tv oh gave her! Had a lovely catch up and a pootle around morrisons, grabbed some nice ham hocks and some Robinson's squash for 50p, also got dd1 a photo frame with several gaps for pics for 99p and friends written on it, will make a nice little pressie at Chrimbo as she has lots of pics with her friends that would look lovely in it.

Got dd3 off today, think her cold has gone into her sinuses as she was up and down last night with a headache, couple of days to recover properly is better than it dragging on any longer I think. Will be hauling her off to Mr T's with me later, finally they have some decent wine in the 3 for £10 offer, so will be using up my wine vouchers and taking advantage of the Budweiser that's £6 when you spend £30, should then have enough alcohol for Christmas and beyond, will pop it out in the garage so it doesn't get quaffed! Need to syphon off hm wines too, might manage that later or get ds to do it, he enjoys stuff like that! btw hm vanilla vodka is maturing nicely, smells delicious, just need some bottles to decant it into soon, will see if I can find something!

Have a good day all, time for a cuppa and a catch up now xx

I'm another one glad to see you 'surface' again, Pen-pen, and don't blame you one little bit for 'stepping away' from the comp for a while.

Well done to you and Pink-winged for the wonderful work you do on this board - AND for pointing me in the right direction when I can't find something (you know what it's like when you put something down and can't find it again ). I put it down to 'my age' - like everything else in my life :rotfl:.

    Good Morning All,
bit chilly at the moment here in the Medway ,but at least its dry.I popped across the road last night about 7 00.p.m. to put some paper in the recycling bin in the precinct, and thought I'd just stick my head in the door of the little Tescos metro.Got a great result, I aquired

    three good sized tomato's
    2 low fat strawberry yoghurts
box of chestnut mushrooms (250g)good condition, I will slice and freeze these for later
good sized potion of sweetcorn and tuna salad (thats today's lunch taken care of)
a large head of broccolli, I love this in the wintertime
and some Club biscuits that have just gone on the offer for 65p
The whole lot came to £2.00 I don't normally go into the little Tescos as there is a huge one about a mile away.I was talking to the lady on the till and she said that if the weather has been very wet and folk don't come out they often reduce stuff especially meat, chicken ect
Last week apparently they were selling trays of chicken at 30p because it had poured all day and the shop was empty .About 7p.m. is the best time to go to the smaller Metro stores for marked down stuff.:j:j
Today I am on a baking day I am going to make a lemon drizzle cake as I have a lemon in the fridge that needs using up.Also some fairy cakes as my DGS will be home tonight from Paris so my cake tins need replenishing, and probably a chocolate cake for my DD just because she needs cheering up a bit .She was Ofsteded last week, and everything is o.k. and the school is running perfectly, but the report praised the deputy head ,and she is the one who keeps loading all her stuff on my DD and does as little as possible, most unfair on DD and her other collegues.

Aussie girl I just slice and dice any extra onions and bung them into a clear plastic box to freeze, easy to get out a handful when you need only a few. I actually must do that this morning as I know I have a couple that need chopping up before they start to sprout
Defineitle a 'pottering day today no shopping needed so I will catch up on some chores I did all the sewing & mending jobs last night so its baking for certain today
I hope everyone has a good day whatever they do and <<hugs>> for the sad and lonely ones

if anyone wants to join up PM me as you cn get a free able and cole cookbook .
jobs to do today are to clean down the living room and move it about .
we have the sofa near the french doors and as its getting colder we need to move it down the other end .
i did sleep a bit better last night , but yesterday i spoke to my occupational health therapist , and she is keen for me to get back to work ,
trouble is i feel the conditions at work are not right and they have'nt adhered to what they should have done in the 1st place .
i was diagnosed with my back probelm in march 2008 and its taken them this long to get a OHT assigned to me ,
i feel she is more on the side of my employers than in my interests .
i have booked an appointment with my doctors to discuss it with her first .
anyway its chilly and must get dressed and cracking on with things .
have a good day everybody xxxx

Hope to get to know you all in time, and my deepest condolences to those who are suffering right now,

the bathroom is coming along nicely - finished the walls just another coat on the ceiling to do then DH will put up the new blind and when I've got time I'll do the skirting boards but luckily there's only a small amount to do.

Do any of you read or have read the Twilight series of books? I have and love them. I can't wait for the 2nd film to come out (New Moon). Seems like it's taken forever for it come out heh (20 Nov. doesn't come quick enough hehe).

    My daughter is totally addicted!!!!!
I'm reading them at the moment. Just started the last one. Have to say it seems to be taking a loong time to get virtually nowhere and not really into love stories but a fun way to pass the time.I find them really easy to read though - I think cos they are so light basically just the romance.I read the first 3 in a day each. Not like the Harry Potters where there is so much to get your teeth into.

I was disappointed by True Blood last night. The first episode was so interesting , deep, gripping and funny and the one last night was just Twilight with boinking. They even used some of the same lines like when he says to the girl " Are You happy? over and over which is what Edward always says to Bella.True Blood promised so much but it just seems to have shrunk to a romance with sex in. :(

    Welcome Layla!

  • Morning everyone :hello:

    Welcome Layla!
Sorry you're having a hard time at work Essex girl. x
Aussie, I always freeze my onions raw and it seems to work for me.

Having a lazy morning with the girls, slobbing on the sofas with our blankies. :D
Just going to tidy the kitchen and hoover then we're off to the Farmer's market and to an Apple festival. :D Should be fun.

Tea is a belly pork joint which I'll slow cook and do with roast veg and a creamy sauce..
The girls are going away with their grandparents tommorrow so I need to make sure they're organised but the friend who irons for me is coming so she will help.

    Take care all. xxxx
