What about Cilla (Black, get it :D ) Not too obvious, and not "twee" either - personally I prefer dog names that sound like proper names, but with a bit of a twist.

    Good luck and have fun!

  • We have called our puppy sky. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. My son chose her name last night. We collected her today and she is gorgeous. At the moment she is fast asleep on her bed in the lounge. I will post a picture of her when I get a minute.

Sky is a lovely name :) I'm in the same situation at the moment, I picked out my cat from the rescue lady about a week ago and have been trying to think of a name since. She's a very fluffy tortie with big eyes, I like Muffin or Darcy or Smudgey, but not too sure  She got dropped off today so I was going to see if any of those 'clicked' with her but she's been hiding for the past few hours so I can't tell :rotfl: going to have to pick something soon though!

Awww, bless her! I hope she settles in well. Pics would be great when you get time. Am seriously considering a labradoodle so would love to know your opinion of what she is like, particularly with children. I hope she doesnt miss her old 'home' too much.

Claire Bear - I like Muffin - but I guess you have to see what suits her. Hope your cat settles in soon (it took ours time and they were rescues).

Good luck to you both. x
  • Thanks beks, we've settled on something completely different and gone for Pepsi :) We were looking on a site of cat's names, and it just clicked, I had a big smile on my face when my OH said it as it just sounded right :D

Hi Beks from what I have seen of her so far she is really good with children. I have had several young visitors so far and she has been really gentle with them and takes treats from them really nicely. Seems to be learning very fast. Had a couple of mishaps in the night though. She howled and whined a lot all night. I got up a few times to her but was too late for the little mishaps. Eventually she settled when it was time for me to get up. The breeder I bought her from told me not to have her upstairs with me. Will see what happens tonight. Have found her a lovely soft cuddly toy to snuggle up to tonight.

She is very good with the cats as well, so if you have other pets she seems to be fine with them. Mind you one of my cats is definately in charge and told her so with a quick growl and swipe of the paw.

Will let you know how she progresses.

My DH called his dog Six, as in the number! And sometimes we could get funny looks standing in the park in the dark shouting for SIX!!!!

  • We let my little brother choose the dogs names when he was about four - which is how we ended up with two dogs by the name of Doochie and Zuggza!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

He was adamant they were good names for dogs, and we had asked him to choose, so Doochie and Zuggza they were!
