Gave them a quick call today for an update. Apparently, they are still "data collecting" which amuses me as it was only a phone call and some paperwork to process the loan. Anyhoo, he even admitted today that time was running out and he only had about two weeks left for a final result. I did have a think today, and I may just go down the small claims route rather than wait 6 months for the FOS to sort it out.
I would put it to the FOS their service is free. It did not take long for my claim to be sorted once I put it in their hands.

    Good luck

Thanks for that, showergirl. It's just that I work in the court services so could get help whenever I wanted if I went that route. Sounds like the FOS might be a better route though, if they don't take too long. :xmassign: :D

Hi, FOS are taking an awful long time TBH. I know of some who have waited at least 12 to 18 months but it is a free service I suppose and you are guaranteed that win or lose.

    Good luck;)

This is true, but may not have that much time to give. Thanks marshallka.

This is the same response I got. It took about 10 weeks for me to get my final response letter.
I then took it to the FOS and Tesco caved in and I got all my ppi + 8%.

It took 6 months in total from the date I sent the first letter till I got the cheque.

But don't worry we are here to support you through this and you will win

Showergirl and Sharpdeath thanks very much for your posts because I am also claiming my PPI back from Tesco and I had my second letter today telling me they need another 4 weeks. As Showergirl has kindly posted that she had to pursue through FOS and won I have a feeling that they are stretching it out as long as they can. They told me in the second letter that it had taken time to gather all the data (now come on??? it took me only a couple of hours the most to get the documents together).
The only reason I can think for the delay is that they have many cases to deal with and thats all!!).
I will wait for another 4 weeks and if I don't get my refund+8%interest I will take it to the FOS. I know I will win because single premium PPI has been banned legally as it was wrongly sold and hence TESCO can't sell them anymore!!! which means any refund entitlement is ours to get back as my profile says itsmineanyway!!!
  • Tesco really need to be more professional like some other loan companies and just admit wrong PPI selling and give a refund+8%.
Its not as if they are having to payout extra money because its your money that they are returning back to you!!! Anyway the longer they take means that they will need to give more back in compensation.
Perhaps we should have a list of the loan companies who have acted professionally in returning PPI refunds without any problems!
I salute Liverpool Victoria for their professionalism as they wrote to me first!!!
  • Wouldn't be surprised but if Tesco don't get their act together then they could be fined unless they already have been.

Just had ANOTHER letter off them today asking for more time. And they got a detail on the letter wrong as well so have sent them this reply...

    Dear Mr. x,
Many thanks for you letter dated 20th December 2009. I notice in your letter that you are asking for extra time to gather a response to my complaint. On both occasions, you have waited until the very end of each time scale until asking for more time. As you are aware, you have had 8 weeks now to deal with my complaint, the acceptable time limit as posted by the FOS. However, as I am aware that you maybe well be inundated with complaints due to PPI mis selling, I am willing to give you another 15 working days. This gives you until Monday 18th January 2010 to give me a favourable final response.
I also note in your letter, you have written “You will recall I wrote to on 20th December 2009 about my investigation into your complaint.” I believe you have got the date mixed up with the recent letter you just sent me. Please take my complaint and the details of it more seriously, and do not get the information mixed up as this may cause confusion to any FOS investigation that maybe required due to my complaint being refused. I send you a copy of the last letter sent to me for you to read.
    Your sincerely,
    x
Thought that was fair enough. :j

That really is amazing sharpdeath because in their letter to me they also got the date wrong!!! Looks like they are just stretching the whole thing out and have a nonsense way of working. They also told me another 4 weeks. I would not be surprised if we get the same response as showergirl telling us after 10weeks that we have no case etc. Of course we will have to go to the FOS like showergirl did which gives Tesco even more time to hang on to our money and then giving it back to us when forced too. Clever tactic but stupid customer service by a top FTSE company! Disgrace!
I told them in my reply that another 4 weeks was no problem but was surprised with the long time it was taking them to investigate and told them it took me only a few hours or so to find my loan agreement to see that the PPI had been added upfront to the loan and interest charged over the loan period which is misselling.
Looks like these guys are just timewasters and very unprofessional. Hopefully they will be fined bigtime and that will speed up their response no doubt.
Notice that other loan companies that have actually been fined are responding very quickly.
May be worth finding out if other people are getting the same response from TESCO and then informing the FOS that they are stretching the whole situation out for everyone just to delay our entitled payments!!
