Thank you for the quick replies. I've had a look and Parcelbee looks good, cannot see any restrictions on what items they will insure, so think I will give them a go.0

Hi emweaver,
Those who are regular to this thread know I am connected with Parcel Monkey.
I am sorry to read that your package was not collected when you tried us us for the first time last week. I imagine it had something to do with the snow across the country but maybe mistaken.
Glad to see your refund was quickly dealt with though and please give us another try in the future.
Maybe if you used other couriers not just Citylink I will, your site indicates you use DHL when you actually dont. Citylink are awful so I admit the main problem was with them not with you. It was nothing to do with the snow as it had gone it was CityLink they are just awful, or at least in my area they areWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Very BAD experience with Parcel Monkey. First time I booked several parcels last week 2 of which were mixed up and delivered to wrong addresses. No one answer the phones at ParcelMonkey, eventually offered a refund by email, but still waiting, totally useless.
I lost my parcels and I have to send them again because the customers received the wrong boxes and Citylink can't help neither...called several numbers no one can give me an update.
I would recommend to AVOID Parcel Monkey and any company which you can't actually talk to a person and won't answer your emails when there is a problem.
I'll provide any update on my case to see if they eventually do something.
Perhaps TuftyMatt can help me but it is too late as I can't let my customer wait too long or I lose business....0 -

Hermes are the same price for NI as mainland UK, £4.99 plus VAT with £25 of insurance or for an extra £1 you can have £100 of cover.
10% off voucher for new customers is CLTNS10.
You dont have to be in when they collect - they can be a bit hit and miss if you havent used them before, i've been using for the last few months and other than initial teething problems, havent had a problem. i can imagine they are only as good as your local rep. last parcel i sent to belfast took about a week but that was just before xmas so may be a bit faster now.0 -

I used Interparcel for this week collection and they are best price for UPS which are great people. DHS to ireland was less than £15 via DHL.
I was using Pharos every day but now they charge you £3 extra if you need collection same day plus interparcel is cheaper.0 -
Can I ask what do you mean with "You dont have to be in when they collect" kind of leaving the parcel outside?, thanks

yep, basically. You can nominate a 'safe point', if i have to go out i leave my parcels on the doorstep, they can also deliver without a signature or if you need a signature there is a surcharge. Suppose it depends on what you are sendinf as to whether you want to leave unattended.
On sub 2kg they are better value that Royal Mail, more so if you are VAT registered.0 -

I agree Kayster, it all depends what you want from your courier. i am happy to leave parcels without signatures as my contents are relatively low value, were i shipping ipods or similar then i would use UPS etc. Were i not using hermes for sub 2kg i would be using Royal Mail however there are savings to be had, its just a case of whether you can embracing the quirkyness of hermes.
i still use parcelmonkey for the occasional shipment as being vat registered they work out cheaper for me than parcelbee however i have used parcelbee today as i needed to book a collection this morning for today which monkey couldnt do but bee can. one issue about hermes is that you need to book pre 8pm the day before collection - this is a pain.0 -
I want to send a parcel which is approx 30x30x30cm and weighs 6kg to Canada.
It contains old family photos and albums. Does anyone know the cheapest way I could send this?
Any help or info would be appreciated...:)“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us...."0
