Cheap Parcel Delivery Official Discussion

Hi All,
I felt compelled to write here to warn you about what can go wrong. Right from the start as you will read some of the issues I experienced are my own doing some are not.
I sold an item on ebay for £220.
Got paid.
Booked with myhermes and took out extra cover and signature upon delivery options.
Parceled it up real good and proper as it's electronics.
Myhermes collected the item.
I bought another item with the money from the sale.
Next thing got a call from buyer saying item damaged.
Received a picture of the damage, yes it's pretty bad.
Thought to myself I have cover up to £250 I am OK.
Offerred refund to the buyer and arranged for pick up in person.
Made a claim with myhermes ....!!!! Supplied all the info and docs.
Bang!!! I am not insured. Why because the item is exlusion list, so you send it at your risk. Where is it say that? In the exlusion list you silly which is under another menu item (not even in terms and conditions).
Did I read it, did I sh!te. Should I have? YES! But how many of us do? Not many. Time is a factor, you are always too busy.
Even though technically myhermes is totlly within their rights to refuse the claim, them not telling this right from the start is against the spirit of the relationship between company and client (me).
I asked them to refund my delivery charges including my extra insurance cover, they refused. You accepted the terms and conditions.
IN OTHER WORDS IF YOU SEND ANY EXCLUSION LIST ITEMS YOU ARE SCREWED. THEY CAN TREAT IT ANY WAY THEY LIKE DAMAGE IT, OPEN IT, TAKE IT WHATEVER AND THEY ARE NOT LIABEL. SO THAT YOU KNOW.
BEWARE.
Thanks for listening.

I suggest you get legal advice - I don't want to raise your hopes, but all may not be lost, depending on the particular circumstances. You could try Trading Standards, the government's Consumer Direct or Which? Legal Service (there is a small fee for Which?).

To be fair to My Hermes it is in the terms and conditions4. Goods not accepted for carriage
Please refer to our excluded items and prohibited goods at https://www.myhermes.co.uk

I booked 3 parcels to be collected on same day however the postage label for one was never emailed to me, subsequently one parcel wasnt collected.
I contacted them via their contact us form (they dont have phone or live online support), suffice to say they hav`nt replied all day.......hopeless. Eventually late in the day i received the parcel label still stating collection that day (this was at 17.30!!!!!).
After calling the actual courier City Link i discovered the collection was now booked for the following day, which is inconvient as thats two days waiting in.
My main complaint was lack of cutomer service from Parcel Monkey, no email back or anything.......totally useless. As i paid via paypal i have now put this transaction into dispute and hope to get a refund through them.
Be careful Parcel Monkey may be the cheapest but dont expect any customer service AT ALL!!!!!!!
I had a similar experience with my last (failed) collection. Not a fan of CityLink anyway so have switched away from PM now. Esp as they didn't honour the cashback deal either :mad:They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

I'm with strapped on this -citylink would not be my first choice either.
Well done Tuftmatt for "coming out" and owning up to your connection with parcelmonkey. Lets see if the other mole we have is brave enought to come out as well. you've done the easy bit which is the nice words what we need to see now is some reports of the problems being resolved.
The Quidco thing is a scandal. Parcelmonkey are still on there offering £2 cashback per transaction and they are not tracking.
I urge everyone to go to quidco, log into your account, go to "my transactions", click on the link "compose earnings enquiry" and then fill in your email and the parcelmonkey order number and then it will be investigated by quidco and parcelmonkey then have 60 days to do something. Everyone should do this to alert quidco to the problem =- it only takes a few seconds as the date are all there on quidco.0 -
I`ve just used Parcels Please to send a parcel to Germany. They were BRILLIANT, parcel collected by courier next day and arrived 3 days later at a quarter of the price the post office wanted. Really Good.0

Afraid to update my experience with parclesplease. My parcel eventually arrived with my customer. It took 12 days for a 2 day service to arrive (U.K). Also they picked up a day late poor service and poor communication and no apology. Would avoid0 -
You might want to take that up with boxby at the uk business forums and see if you have any luck0

Those of you who keep an eye on this board might have noticed some postings have disappeared over the weekend including one of mine so i think someone is upset.
A well known parcel arranger who has an arrangment with a well known cashback company posted that they wanted to sort out the problem which the parcel company claimed was not of their making.
In my usual helpful manner i suggested how this might be achieved and quoted the original message from the parcel arranger - its all disappeared and i have not been told why.
Its disappointing that the message which as far as i can see do not break any board rules are removed and does make you wonder what sort of arrangements there are behind the scenes of what i thought was a consumer champions website. Certainly the arrangment between the parcel provider and the cashback site remain unchanged even though we know the arrangement is fatally flawed.
I suppose it is easier to remove embarrassing postings than it is to correct the ongoing injustice of the £2 offer on every parcel even though well over 1 month has gone by since the subject came up.0 -

well MSE has rules on official company representatives which that poster was not0 -

Why do you say not an offical company representative - he came on here an openly said he was - the post is still there. So long as he doesnt promote and only sorts out problems that sounds good to me. Better than the snakes who come allong pretending be a non connected person who has had a wonderful experience.0
