    Hi All,

Need some help finding a new courier
    UK only

Items are big, say 60cm wide, 60cm deep, 140cm high.
Weigh up to 5kg but not over

Used to use DHL at a cost of around £11 per package but can’t anymore.
As the packages went to a sorting depot the forklift drivers were putting the forks through some of the bags rendering them useless.
Also they started sending private drivers round with tiny vans which weren’t big enough to take the stock.

For large consignments we now use Tuffnells, cost is a little more at an average of £15 per package but the service is good so far.

The problem is that if we send out less than 5 packages they stick on a minimum surcharge of £50 which pushes the cost per package over £21 which is just too high.

Sooo, basically on the look out for a courier that can pick up and deliver for £15 or under, who wont damage the packages.

The plan is to stick with Tuffnells for any consignment of 5 packages or more but to use this 2nd courier for 1-4 packages

  • I'm sure many have said already, but collect+ (which can be done through ebay - very tidy) now trumps myhermes for up to 5kg - £4.99 for up to 5kg (although dimensions are more limited) and it includes £50 comp rather than £25.

    Hello all,

really appreciate comment from those with knowledge, or experience of sending a parcel in the UK to London SE16 with either,

Parcelforce Express AM service, 'Guaranteed* delivery to the majority of the UK Mainland plus selected postal codes within the Highlands and Islands, by 12 Noon the next working day', OR
TNT UK 12:00 Express, 'Delivery by 12pm Next Working Day throughout most of the UK Mainland; collection is not guaranteed on this service but currently enjoys 98.5% success'
    OR
    UPS services

I really need this parcel to get there by Friday afternoon (3PM).

    Anyone done this often?

FYI Greeneye, delivery time to Finland is usually 7 days. No matter what courier you use, unless you choose air. There was a time when a parcel website that has since been shut down was giving DHL Air service for £12. I sent some stuff weighing about 20kg from London to Finland, and they arrived next day!! For £12!
It *was* brilliant while it lasted...

...Shame Santa has stopped carrying parcels on his way to and from the North Pole ;P

Was just wondering what those items are in the photo? Are they a product that would benefit from being packed into those Vacuum Bags, thus making them smaller and cheaper to post. Just a thought.

  • I haven't used parcelhero but looking at them as potential courier. Also this month they have 10% off so a good deal if anyone is shipping at the moment.
I'm looking to ship small parcels (19cmx19xmx26cm, 4.8kg each) to Malta and also Romania. Probably two at a time for the cost.
Does anyone have a cheaper option than parcelhero for either of these two countries and also what percentage is VAT on top of the shipping? thanks :)
  • VAT is 20% within the EU, and I think I'm right in saying nothing if outside?

They seem to be one of the more expensive couriers out there,
here's a list of other websites to try.

  • I am having real a problem getting Parcel Monkey to reply to my messages. It took them 5 days to send me an e-mail (25th Sept), saying that a parcel for Thailand could not be delivered to the location requested. Fair enough, that was not their fault. I immediately asked them to return it and refund the charge made for £43. After 4 e-mails from me and posts on their FB page it took them another 7 days to reply saying you would arrange for that to be done. It is yet another 7 days and still nothing. It has been 3 weeks since I despatched the parcel. They seem to have done little more than delete my FB polite messages!
