What post code is it going to in Finland? As this will have a bearing on which courier to use as they all have different "remote areas".

I have found Pharosparcel the best for Finland, as they use UPS. Although if it is going anywhere else than Helsinki it will be itella (the post office) that delivers it on UPS behalf.

    thanks a lot
  • Lakiala looks fine with UPS, so I would recommend using the GWIZZ site to book it. Be about £24 if I recall.

GWizz offer UPS Europe (2-5 business days) for £23.90 + VAT for that level of insurance. Don't know how this compares to your PM quote? It's cheaper than despatchbay for ParcelForce or DHL anyway (about £25.50 + VAT).

BEWARE - out of personal experience I can only say - the tariff inc insurance sounds good on paper - don't hold your breath for it if something goes wrong - despite insurance - UPS will try to deny any liability whatsoever claiming the packaging was insufficient - according to GWIZZ customer service approx 50% of all insurance claims with UPS are declined...!!!

Any courier, and I mean any you use will try the same trick. It's a problem whoever you use.

Just thought I'd mention that Parcelsplease UPS service seems to be gone?

I asked for a quote on a smallish box weighing under 5kg, and it came up with DHL Domestic next day (£14.13+VAT).

    Any similarly priced alternatives recommended?

Agree re GWhizz. They booked Citylink, who didn't turn up, then tried to say that I wasn't in when they called, then they sent someone the next day, and he damaged it. A month later GWhizz have said that Citylink will only refund £30, despite me paying for insurance up to £90. That reminds me, will have to ensure we get the delivery fee back as well.

Selling a piece of furniture on eBay, not particularly heavy, 120cm x 64 x64 cm. Based in Kent, someone has asked for a quote to Hinckley in Leceistershire. Apart from Shiply, any other ideas? To be honest I would have thought that it would cost more than to go and buy the thing new, it's only from Ikea and the ad states as such :/

  • I'm looking to send a 25kg parcel with parcelforce (it is a particular item which most other courier companies won't take) - cost being over £30. My question is why does someone like Parcelmonkey do the same weight item with Parcelforce for £10.99 but have these items listed in the prohibited list??

Too high a risk l guess, their insurance won't cover it.
