Seeing as though payperparcel give £100 compensation and are cheaper, I might use them, but Ive queried this with them
If the goods are damaged, please sign to accept but note that the goods are damaged.
If you sign for the goods in 'Good Condition' you will not be able to process a claim.
Its not possible for the buyer to know that the goods are damaged until they plug the item in and see for themselves. These sentences would get them out of giving any compensation tbh, so Ive contacted them

  • I recently wanted to send a package to New Zealand. Cheapest price for the weight was around £47. But by splitting it in two and using Royal Mail Surface Small Packet service I saved around £20.
I'ts always worth considering if you can split a parcel to get better rates. The Royal Mail's Small Packet service worldwide goes up to 2Kg BUT books and Printed Papers (magazines etc.) can go up to 5Kg except for a few countries such as Canada. You need a customs form (from the PO) for Small Packets outside EU, but not for Printed Papers. The old PP rule that ends had to be left open has now gone.
  • I run a small business in Norwich, UK and was wondering if the strike is confirmed for next week. I use parcel force at the moment (don't know why, they were just the first in Google) anybody know of any reliable not necessarilly cheap parcel companies, as reliability is more important than price that we could consider using just in case

I always use PayPerParcel without a problem. There booking system links straight to DHL so you can see the progress of the booking rather than hoping it's been booked.

Yes they do - I will speak to them in the morning. Ive always assumed they were part of royal mail must be the red van thing ( must stop watching postman pat)

Just been back to the pf website there's links to the rm group - can anyone else confirm that they are not effected by all this nonsense

they are part of royal mail group
not part of royal mail which will/maybe affected by strikes so you will be unaffected
PF have their own hubs/depots and i would expect will be doing their own collections
the only issue could be those sending PF via post offices

    worth checking though

SecureDX will deliver up to 1kg for £3.85+VAT (£4.45 ish) next day. You don't need an account but you do need to purchase pre-paid labels in advance.

They got back to me and said
    Hi Waqas
What this basically means is, that when we submit a claim for a damaged item, we need to provide DHL with evidence that the customer has reported the item as faulty/damaged. Which means that we would need an email from the customer to you (if you are the sender) saying that the computer does not work when switched on etc. and that they think this is a fault of the courier company.
    Hope that helps
    Kind regards

One place to avoid is lowcostparceldelivery.com Once upon a time, they had a FedEx option that I used. It cost me £7 and I got £100 compensation, which wasnt too bad, however the parcel was meant go from my house to Leeds(which is about 30 mins away from here) I looked at the fedex site for tracking and it was then in Bristol of all places(something to do with how they run business) I contacted FedEx and they said lowcostparceldelivery had no right to be using their services and I could take legal action against them if I so wished to do so. Luckily, I had an understanding buyer(I sold on a forum) and I made a thread about their bad service, so I think the buyer trusted me on this one. I then sold the item again after paying FedEx £14 to send the item back to me-When I sold it again, it was sent by DHL with parcel2go, properly packaged etc... but the parcel broke. I paid for compensation up to £50-I sold the item for £65 free delivery, so no point really paying for extra compensation. The buyer sent the item back to me, I refunded their money, submitted a claim with p2g and got £50 back from p2g after 8 weeks of them investigating the problem.

I think I might stick with ppp for computers seeing as though they charge £7.09! Should give me a competitive edge. I can also now afford to pay for return postage, to keep buyers happy
