FWIW my own experience....
Used PARCEL2GO about a dozen times now and other comments are fair about having to wait in all day. Luckily my agent seems to get to my area around lunchtime so I guess I have been fortunate.
Their system is a bit clunky and if you make a mistake, the wrong order still stays on line for quite a while (even if you don't pay for it) but although that is messy, it does not kill you.
With P2G, my requests have generally brought up MyHermes or City Link as the carrier and in all cases parcels have arrived within time or mostly earlier than expected. One problem with P2G however is that City Link do not give you a receipt for the parcel (although if you book directly with THEM, they do) whilst MyHermes does. Again I think I have been lucky as the CityLink drivers have all been prepared to sign a copy of the order to say that have collected (and in fact the first one even waited whilst I printed it off).
One other problem is that I believe P2G is owned by ebay and some people may not want to give them any more after they have taken up to 12% for final value fees and then a further 5-6% for paypal. Your choice though.
One other company that offers a similar service is Parcel Monkey. I was told about them by one of the drivers who said that they are generally cheaper than P2G for next day delivery and I can confirm that this has been the case every time I have wanted to send something fast. They were also cheaper for International and THE BEST BIT... they are sometimes cheaper for NEXT DAY than going 3+ days with P2G (again a tip from the driver)!
I have also used Collect+ twice and both have been delivered a day earlier than expected and I have save around £6 on just two parcels. No queues, as it is a newsagents and as others have mentioned, tracking all included for around 40% less than Royal Mail.
Always tried to be loyal to the Post Office but they don't make it easy. The staff are usually great but the management seem to have lost touch with the public's wants and 39% increase is the last straw.0 -

Just a clue, they aren't!!!I have also used Collect+ twice and both have been delivered a day earlier than expected and I have save around £6 on just two parcels. No queues, as it is a newsagents and as others have mentioned, tracking all included for around 40% less than Royal Mail.
Collect+ are great, but please book them direct, it's for your own benefit. Higher insurance as standard and cuts out P2Gs appaling customer 'service' when something goes wrong!!!0 -
I have recently started selling some of my old stuff on the web and am amazed that after everyone else has taken their charges there is not much left for me!! Like this advice about shopping around on the web for the best prices - found this for May 2012. 15% off Parcel force. Freebies and Deals. co uk and go to Parcelforce bit.
This web page gives you the discount code (at the bottom), click on Go to offer button, buy your postage as normal and then enter discount code at checkout. Nice easy saving. Thank you for the advice. Will start looking around the web (including here) for some great savings advice and will see how much I can save.0 -
Try UK Mail @ https://www.ipostparcels.com/?utm_source=ukmail&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=rhc-1
I dont think anyone is beating their prices right now.
(THIS WHOLE STATEMENT IS ABOUT 24hr DELIVERY)
Also save money by sending your orders out on the same day as UK Mail give a disount for each parcel they collect while they are allready there collecting another one,so they could be costing as little as £5.60 inc vat for next working day delivery.
And then you can use the discount provided by Richto (on page 145 Gives you 10% off as well.tweet01 for 10% off at ipostparcels.com
Apart from the above the only way UK Mails prices can be beat is by either having your own sending account with a carrier or by using the likes of sale track ,despatch bay or similer company,All companys like sale track / despatch bay have good prices but are let down by the fact you need to ship a min number of parcels at the same time .Also Uk Mail prices are even beating sale tracks/despatch bays prices on anything less that 400 parcels per month.(subjet to size and weight) but if your parcel is 5KG or less and only 35 x 35 x 35 cm.
And you want next day delivery they cannot be beat for price even by account holders by other carriers.
Hope the aboves helpsAny advice I give on these forums is my own opinion only, and is what I would do in your situation or, what I have done in the past, please do not slate me for offering what I see as "sound" advice.ThanksDavewinston0 -

Yes they can!!! It depends entirely on size and weight who can deliver your parcel for the least money!!! And you haven't even tried opening an account with HDNL have you?0 -
I need to send a parcel of weight 9kg, size 74cm cube, to Germany, with trackability and insurance for £200.
I am lost in the maze of different ways to do this these days.
Please can anyone advise on the cheapest reliable option?0 -

I read through lots of these threads, and am now very confused! (Easily done).
I have googled couriers and got quotes from loads, but the prices are over £2-300. I have a Dressage saddle on eBay and have several people in USA that want it. (Ive sold there before and it used to be around £70) the problem I am finding is that its an excellent saddle and the reserve is £1500 with a buy it now at £1750, and I want to insure it accordingly.
The saddle fits in its own transport drum which is 49cm diameter and 85cm tall. The weight is 9.8kg.
Can anyone help with which transportation company/middle agent would be best for this please?0 -
