  • hi strapped the service is to Northern Ireland which costs more than the £5.65 PF rate....

You say that the UK to UK mainland price with PF is £5.65, with no away collection charges (no away collection charges shown for me on my rate page) and maybe no less than 4 parcel surcharge..is that right??? interested in that...

    tell me more!!!

Sorry, you're right, the Offshore and the Highlands rates are more than £5.65. But standard UK to UK is £5.65, and yes there's no away collection charge. You may be able to negotiate the collection surcharge if you speak to DespatchBay (and are as charming as myself :A;)) The NI rate is £9.54, so still cheaper than the DHL route for an away collection.

i wondered if any one could help and advise me on the following

if i wanted to send a parcel to Northern Ireland from the UK, but i wanted an away collection i.e not from my registered Despatchbay collection address....

would despatchbay charge me, on top of the £8.54 standard price, the £2.95 away collection surcharge and if there was only 1 parcel to be collected would they also charge me £1.95 the less than 4 parcels collection surcharge?

therefore total price would be £8.54 +2.95+1.95 + vat

any ideas and help on this please, i would approach them but they are off today

    best

cant help with despatchbay but the cheapest to NI is often my hermes and by a big margin. only suitable for non urgent as you have to accept the rather slow progress my hermes packages make.
  • Hi

Has anyone ever sent china or breakables with myHermes? I know there is no compensation just wondered if they were careful though

    Thanks

They give £25 compensation included in the price and if you want more compensation then you pay a little extra. I am currently midst claim for a missing package and once they realised it was a claim from a private customer rather than a company they have been pretty good and are refunding me the postage and the £25 compensation.

Need to send a package with a smartphone in to Peru with compensation up to £300 pounds by Air. Looked through the ones in the article but not impressed with the prices. Wondering there is anyone you guys would recommend that has cheap prices for small packages?
    Thanks
  • The cheapest prices for small packages are almost always Royal Mail, try walking to your local post office and asking

Just a reminder to all you folks flocking away from Royal Mail, you can get £11.75 free shipping at the moment if you sign up for an account with DespatchBay:

I hope this helps someone. I have gone back to using DespatchBay recently and been pleased with the service (so far...crosses fingers and touches wood...)

When I try to sign up with the code, they say you have to ship 50 parcels a month minimum to join.
Truth? I'm closer to five (above Royal Mail minnow size)! Do people fib or is this offer strictly for biz?

And while I'm here, anyone know how strict Collect+ (or Yodel their carrier) are on size? They quote 50x30x30cm max. My parcel is 62x30x16cm. So the volume is lower - and I had Yodel ship bigger than their quoted limit the one time I used them.

Old posts (IIRC) suggested that if the newsagent etc takes it, it'll get there... No-one been surcharged?

(BTW If any registered Collect+ user wants to offer me a 10% discount using their 'Refer A Friend' link, pm me. Then I can reciprocate after I sign up. )
