Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask, however I am considering setting up my own freight forwarding company, and can negotiate rates which would allow me to offer a next day UPS delivery to UK Mainland address for £6.75 up to 30kg's, or £8.75 up to 40kg's Excl VAT I have 5 years experience in the courier industry with the UK Market leader, so believe I know exactly what customers expect and want from a carrier, regarding customer service, and delivery reporting etc.

If I could offer these kind of rates do you think I would be able to compete in the market with other more time served forwarders, such as Interparcel etc.

    Many thanks.

For what it's worth as a user of several courier resellers we are looking for someone who can carry parcels that are 100 x 50 x 50 or bigger and are sometimes between 25-29kg and sometimes over 30kg. ParcelForce seem to be the only ones who will take the former. YouSellWeDeliver book PF for £8.99/£9.99 for a PF48/24 service.
We struggle to find anyone who will take a parcel larger than 100x50x50 and just over 30kg. Having seen GWIZZ mentioned here I thought they might take larger parcels for their £8.95, but they asked me to call them rather than accept a booking online for a parcel (100 x 50 x 50 at 28kg).
There seems to be a jump from paying around £10 for 100x50x50 / <30kg and something a bit bigger. The jump is usually to around the £40-£50 mark. We would be willing to pay quite more for such as service.
There sems to be a niche there for a reseller.
    I hope this helps you.
I would concur with the preious comments about overcoming the perceptions of being another: Direct Parcel Delivery, Low Cost Parcel Delivery ...

They do not have a website. Bookings are done manually. It's not as onerous as it seems. We just create a template with the usual information and e-mail it off. Fantastic service. PF are adding VAT to UK services from 31st Jan so these will rise to: £10.49/ £11.49 inc VAT.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. i'm a bit dubious about them not having a website. They cost peanuts and give a profsesional image. Also from googlemaps seems that its being ran from a home address so again would be a little concerned due to the volume of parcels I send.Even if they didnt want a website they could have a domain name for peanuts. It's obviously a one man band working from home, not that I'm knocking that, good on him. But as Im a business and accountable I think I will pay the pound or so extra and go with senditnow but thanks very much for your help

I fully understand your caution we were too when we started using them 18 months ago.
They certainly are run from home.
We sent 81 parcels in a day through them (and 200 in three days), when the Royal Mail suspended the guarantee for their Special Delivery Service in December and were taking 7 days to deliver SD items through Edinburgh.
Not many resellers publish their mobile numbers and are available 9am-9pm. A professional looking website / domain name e-mail address does not necessarily mean the business is professional and trustworthy. If that was the case 80% of the posts on this site would not exist.

    You could try collectmyparcel.com[/URL], DHL 1-2 day, up to 30Kg - £8.95.

Yes, I would recommend collectmyparcel.com, they delivered a towing bracket (21kg) within 24 hours no problem.
I wasted 5 weeks waiting for myParcelDelivery.com to collect- then I got my money back (thanks to PayPal). Collectmyparcel.com were £5.25 cheaper as well!

Anyone know of any slower and cheaper worldwide delivery?
I need to send something rather big to Japan (a bunch of things, a guitar being the biggest), speed isn't important and most of these ones on the article seem to pride themselves on taking under 5 days.

    Hello

I need some advice please. I have to send some comics to my friend in Sweden. I have 2 options. To package it in a box or as a printed material in an envelope. The measurement is as follows :

    Packed in an envelope
    33cm x 30cm x 8.5cm = 3.3kgs

    Packed in a box
38cm x 8 cm x 26 cm = 4kgs (since there's space in the box, am thinking to bake her some brownies or cookies lol)

Just came back from the Post Office & they want £20.51 for it. Even though their website is quoting a cheaper rate
    Online I found these : Worldwide Parcel Services £17.48, Parcel Monkey £17.99 & Parcel 2 Ship £19.55.

Does anybody else know a better deal please? Or any other suggestion? We're not bothered by the speed of delivery, just the cost need to be lower. Your expertise is much appreciated. Thank you :)
