If you blend them with some soya milk and some almond butter it makes a lovely alternative to ice cream - a vegan friend of mine told me about this and it really is gorgeous. If you make it sloppier you can also freeze it in ice lolly moulds.0

What a great tip! Sounds delicious, and I'm sure that lactose-intolerant people on dairy-free diets will also appreciate this. All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

I have just started doing this with bananas. Especially half bananas if my little one has only eaten half. I have just been wrapping them in cling film and chucking them in the freezer. Perfect for a smoothie. You end up with an 'ice cream' type thick shake. Very yummy.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

If you dip slices in chocolate, let it set, then freeze them, they are a nice alternative to ice lollies.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Hi foxyruby,
As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've added it to the main thread on freezing bananas where you'll find more ideas for using them.

hi,
Right I bought LOADS of bananas awhile ago because they were cheap but just cant eat them.....
Would it be ok to mush them up and freeze them and use them in making Banana Bread/Muffins? and anything else containing bananas.
I am currently I am all Banana'd out with these so further ideas on recipes containing banana would be appreciated too.

You can just put them in the freezer whole and then eat just like a banana ice lolly - lovely!0

Not sure about freezing mushed bananas, might go a bit watery?! If you have the freezer space you could make banana loaf/muffin etc and freeze those and just take them out as and when you want to eat them.
Add them in to fresh fruit smoothies, banoffee pie, banana custard/split, ummm might work in a trifle instead of mixed fruit?, fruit flan, wonder if you could add them to make souffle/brulee, may have to find a recipe to try that I suppose.

Can't see why you *couldn't* mash up the bananas and then freeze them, but there's no harm in putting the bananas unmashed straight into the freezer. We do this all the time. When you need a set number for a recipe you just take what you need out and let them defrost in a bowl. They then slip right out of their peels after you open them. Have fun!:A Thanks to all the lovely people who contribute their advice! :A0
