I freeze mine with the skin on
The skins turn black but then I peel off when needed with a paring knife as they are frozen.
Bananas can be eaten when frozen solid as a lolly. That is what a rocky road banana is except you coat em with chocolate and sprinkles etc.
Think banana milk pop.
I make an icecream with frozen bananas that is to die for. Just blitz them and then whip. You can add syrup etc if you wish but no extra sweetener is necessary. Refreeze in a tub and bobs your uncle!:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

The flesh is perfectly fine. The skins blacken as they freeze but they are not consumed, merely serving as a covering for the banana whilst it's in your freezer. Great thing is, if you freeze them in the skin, you can fit a lot more into your freezer as you can post them individually in the gaps:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

yeah mine went brown as well, but just used them in banana fritters (which are brown anyway), and they were delish!
I take the skin off, chop into 3 or 4 bits and freeze in individual bags for smoothies. You also don't need to add ice cubes then as the smoothie comes out quite thickWe got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Hi daisiegg,
Yes you can freeze bananas. I've added your post to our main freezing bananas thread where you'll find lots of advice.

Very simple question I hope...
I like to have ripe banana in my morning porridge, but I have some that are very overripe and are just not going to make it.
I have heard of freezing them for use in banana bread or smoothies, but that is when they are going to be cooked/blended.
Do you think it would work to freeze them in order to put in porridge? Would I cut them up first or freeze them whole, with or without peel?
Or is it just a lost cause...?
Thanks in advance!0 -
Peel them first, for sure. I don't eat frozen bananas except in smoothies but I'd say slice them first before freezing, then see what happens. If it comes to the worst you can just pop them in the blender. Frozen banana is like icecream when it's blended
Edit: don't freeze them for more than a week or two though. Frozen banana goes weird after a while, with a rather unpleasant malty taste.0 -
ive merged this with our thread on freezing bananas.
Here's an idea - freeze one and try itThat's what I do if I'm ever in doubt.
