I freeze them in the skins quite often, but it's good to put them in a plastic bag, even so.
I also mash them first and then freeze them in pre-measured quantities in zip bags, so that it's easier to use them for baking.0 -
Hi everyone, I know I'm being a bit thick but what's the best way to freeze bananas?
Do you have to peel them first? slice them?
Any help would be appreciated as I have some going soft & would like to use them in some of the recipes on here but need to wait until I have more store cupboard items like flour etc.
Thanks:DOfficial DFW Nerd - Member 408 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
I peel them, wrap them in clingfilm and then freeze, my children love them straight from the freezer, or i let them defrost and use either in a banana loaf or a smoothie (not nice to eat on their own once defrosted!!!!)0

depends on what you want to do with them, I have some whole and some mushed up in a container. I mash up enough for say a banana cake and stick that in one tub and then freeze.
I feeze lots.....0 -
Can I freeze bananas? I bought some and they went over really quickly, so I thought I'd make a cake, but I had no time so I shoved them in the freezer, peel and all.
Will they be safe to use? Should I have peeled them first?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

They will be fine for cake making. I have some in the freezer atm with peel on, but to be honest, I've not tried to peel them. Others will tell you it's OK and they peel easily. I usually peel them and wrap them in cling film though.0

theres a fact i never knew,will do this in future i either go through them really quick or they are left for ages,thanks:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Sometimes they go black in the freezer. I can remember HM baby food with banana in looking a bit yukky after freezing!
They'll be ok in cakes or anything else where they'll be mushed up and mixed in, but might not be nice used for decorative slices!Here I go again on my own....0 -
I peel them, wrap in cling film and freeze like that, and they turn out fine. I then either let DD have one straight from the freezer (bit like a banana ice cream) or take a couple out if i want to make a banana loaf, if im using my hand blender i dont need to wait for them to defrost!!!!0
