Freezing bananas.

Hello
During my juicing phase a couple of years ago, I got bag load of 'nanas from the market, chopped and froze. Very useful in smoothies instead of ice (which tends to spill out of the wobbly cube-tray in my freezer).
Found they went a bit off colour and so didn't fancy eating them, but would have if I'd known how delicious they are by the way you guys are describing them.
Cheers

If you are after nice healthy desserts, try freezing yogurt or grapes, I personally love the grapes option - just wash them and put them in a container/bowl in the freezer overnight and voila.yoghurt can just be frozen in the tubs it comes in.
Also in summer I make frozen fruit kebabs. Slice up bananas, strawberries, kiwi fruit, mango and grapes (or whatever else takes your fancy) and thread along bbq skewers and freeze for a few hours/overnight. It's great for desserts at BBQs in midsummer.0 -
Hi,
I've got about 8 bananas that have gone from green and inedible to black and squishy almost overnight .
I've read on here that you can freeze bananas and use them in cooking but don't know whether to freeze them in their skins or do you peel 'em first.
Probably a stupid question, I know, but I can't make my mind up.:smileyhea0 -
Hi finc,
You can freeze them in their skins or peel them, wrap them in cling film and freeze.

I saw a tv chef chop bananas then freeze them in ordinary freezer bags to use later, still partially frozen, in smoothies.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Thanks for your replies, I think I'll peel them first.:smileyhea0

A New Yorker friend of mine got me into freezing bananas and to eat them as a healthy lolly! They actually taste much better than they sound. Just take the skin off and put them in freezer bag or wrap in cling film. They can be a bit cold to hold so sometimes I put a lollipop stick in the banana before freezing it0

I suspect that would be a major hit with my toddler this summer. Thanks for that!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Following on from Miss Penny Pincher you can make banana ice cream in a similar way. Just peel & chop the bananas, pop them in a freezer bag overnight then whizz them in the blender with enough liquid (milk, fruit juice or water) to get the right consistency & voila! Very healthy & very yummy. As an alternative you can add cocoa powder to make chocolate banana ice cream or chop in a few strawberries - whatever you like really.0

These both sound lovely :T.
In the end I froze half in their skins and half peeled and cling filmed. I'll see if they taste different from each other.
Will definitely be making the ice cream with some natural yoghurt that needs eating mmmmmmmm.:smileyhea0
