    you're very kind.

i was letting this drop off the board because of the recent request to have the diary threads moved to their own board, so that new dfw's could find help to their problems quicker, without having to trawl through loads of diary threads. i thought i didn't want to be part of the problem, so was going to try to be dfw without coming on here to waffle daily.

things are going well. got paid £40 from my mystery shopping jobs, and £300 from aqa, all going towards my debt. Also deposited the london underground cheque, so when that clears i'll be adding that as well. i've managed to get all my ddebits under control and for the first time in years have not gone into my over draft in weeks!! i'm well chuffed

work is going great, took out £30 at the beginning of the week to last me. I did visit the pub yesterday evening to watch the brazil match, but at least i only spent £9. also traded a fiver for a couple of £2 coins which have gone into the piggy. Have to be ultra good for the rest of the week, but i'm taking in my lunch and only using the money to buy coffee and treats (might even take the coffee into work too!!)

thank you for wondering how i'm doing. i'm keeping up, though it's especially hard when you're earning a good wage and still have to be such a tight-wad!! i am constantly reminding myself of the reason for it, but it doesn't keep it from being depressing.

    hope you are well too

That's brilliant! Well done for keeping within your overdraft limits! I see the point about the diaries...but I do love seeing how people are doing and catching up when I've missed a few days. Find them inspirational! WOW at £300 for AQA...must look into this!

I know what you mean about the good wage thing - I am ver lucky to be earning a good wage, my own fault I got myself into this mess, but sometimes it's annoying to account for everything and so I've let things slip again...must sort it out. Been kidding myself that 1.20 for lunch wasn't that bad, but will take my own lunch in tomorrow and friday now!

    hello all

well another week's starting, and work is going well. I've managed to carry in my lunch a few days this week, still can't bring myself to not go out at least once!! i guess i have to work on that.

a couple of unexpected expenses this week - the sky engineer being one. hubby has said he will give me some money, but it hasn't materialised. also went to a 'moving out' sale a neighbour was having, but didn't go too overboard, spent a fiver and got some nice stuff. walked away as i was getting the greedy eye for other stuff. have hidden in my flat ever since. it's also art exhibition weekend in my area as well (so many artists living on my street). i can't trust myself to go and look at the pieces as i'm pretty sure i'll buy something. there is even a painting of me from my last job that i desperately want to buy...but i have to be good.

i was thinking this week about the thinking behind me getting into debt. it's been really something looking at myself and my thoughts in detail when it comes to my relationship with money. the whole idea of 'lack' and 'want' really shapes your perspective if not kept in check from the very beginning. when you've never had something all your life, then somebody tells you that you are worthy to have it (there is some serious psychology behind the use of the words 'accepted' and 'dissapproved' by credit card companies), there is almost and overwhelming, uncontrollable feeling of 'i'm worth it' that comes over you (i say you, when i really mean me).

in a nutshell, i grew up in a position of 'lack'. i clawed myself out of that quite successfully, didn't manage it properly so went back into a position of lack, and tried to get those feelings back again, unfortunately with money that wasn't mine. and when i earn well, instead of preparing for the future, i think in terms of 'now, now, now', and so do not even consider repaying the debts, and continue spending my money and theirs. (rather large nutshell)

anyways, forgive my ramblings, i just wanted to lay out on paper (screen) the thoughts that have been running around my head.

i am glad i have come to a place of understanding about my relationship with money. i hope that it continues, and that whenever the urge to satisfy myself now with a big spend crops up, i can look it fully in the face, understand it, acknowledge it, and recognise that it is not what i need.

once again, i wish everyone, great a great DFW week ahead. and lots of self understanding.

yes i do get a muse discount, but still can't afford the picture. will see if hubby will buy it for me:D

just to let everyone know (not many people read this thread), but if you're signing up for the screen select 1 month trial, make sure you cancel well before the month is up, as they don't give you any time to get back in any titles they've posted out to you, even if it's still in the post. so i've cancelled my free trial (the month ends on thursday) but they said if they don't get the titles they've sent me by wednesday they will charge me for a month. i haven't even received these films yet.

i'm gonna call them and shout at them now.

    hope everyone is good.

yeah watch them - They stuffed me over by sending me films after Id cancelled. Had to threaten court action to get my £15 back - which I got fairly swiftly in the end.

For a free trial, it doesnt make them look good at all :(

i just called them with my very stern voice

frightened boy at the other end said he would put a couple days onto the 'return by' date, so i have until the end of the week to get the discs back to them. hope they come tomorrow.

at least blockbuster gives you 28 days after you've cancelled to get the discs back to them. screen select is looking for people to go about picketing about how they try to stuff you when all they're giving you is really a 3 week trial!!!

2 months ago, i would have just let this ride. now i'm fighting for my 15 quid!!

Yep, same thing happened with me with my free trial for credit expert. they reckoned Id clicked on something that charged me a fiver. I was like tere is NO WAY I would have paid a fiver for the info when it was £2 by mail. She refunded. :) I do have a stern voice as well. Along with having the right page up form the consumerdirect website so I know what bit of law they are breaking :)
