plus i'm really thick with computers, what are cookies (not the buscuits!)?......not much hope for my cashback is there ?
Cookies are small files that websites put onto your computer to track amongst other things how you accessed their website (from a cash back website, Google etc).
Each time you use a cash back website you should clear cookies, because if you have visited the retailers website by others means such as a Google search or direct by typing their website address then the cash back website will not be the referer, so you won't get any cash back.
In Internet Explorer to clear cookies you go to Tools > Internet Options > and Delete browsing history.0 -

Yes, if you have accessed the retailers website before you want to buy using a cash back website then you need to clear cookies first.
If you visited say the Curry's website from a Google link or a link on another website and found an item you wished to buy, and then went to Quidco and logged in and clicked through to Curry's, the cash back will most likely not be paid. This is because the original referer (Google etc) would be credited with your sales lead and not Quidco.
The cash back website needs to be the referer for your transaction. These cash back website get paid commissions (which they pass onto you) for supplying sales leads, just like adverts on Google or other websites.
The rule is if you want to purchase and get cash back using a cash back website, then you clear cookies first to delete any other tracking cookies that could have come from other referers such as Google.
Some cookies expire (are deleted) after a certain amount of time, but some stay on your computer until you clear them.
If I am browsing a retail website and find something I want to buy I come off line and clear cookies and temporary internet files. I then go to Quidco or Top Cash Back and login and click through to the retailer.0 -
The safest option by far, if you want to be certain that there are no lurking cookies which will stop your cashback, is to use a separate browser (Firefox, Opera or Chrome, perhaps) for Quidco/TCB transactions. That browser can be set to clear all cookies on exit, so you know every time you use it that there are no cookies.0

I joined the RAC through Quidco, hping for £40 cashback. It was tracked and recorded and in my account, then it suddenly disappeared and I never did get paid. According to Quidco, the problem was with the RAC not paying them.Don't trust Quidco at all now !0
