Dabs have two £229 5100 models with (apparently) the same spec but different Dabs and Dell model (reference) numbers.
quicklinx: 42V7WS mfr#: FDPW06
quicklinx: 42VMWS mfr#: FDW006
Has anyone worked out the difference ?0 -

Both seem to be the same machine but the 2.66GHz P4 specified in the description is a bit different from the 3.0GHz in the item title. Would probably be worth printing out the page if you decide to order one of these

My 19" screen from Dell stands just under 16.5" includes the stand.
in relation to speakers, Dell monitors have an optional speaker bar which fits below the main screen...if it comes with that its not a bad dealWelcome, rogerramjet.

Hi There
I've been following this thread closely and am about 2 order the 5100 from DABS . Please could you answer the following questions which I am unsure about :
1.Does the DABS 5100 come with a 1 year rtb warranty ?
2.Is windows XP the only software supplied - I was wanting media player 10 - will i have to buy this seperate
3.Is their a media card reader on the unit
4.Will my current monitor fit on ( universal fitting )
and finally ,
5.I have a parallel port printer - where can i affix this is there are no parallel ports on the unit
thank you very much0 -
Monitor:
Should fit as long as its a standard 9 pin VGA. From the specs on the Dell website this machine does not have DVI inputs.
Parallel port printer:
I have also got this problem, so have ordered a USB to Parallel converted from Techfocus for £6.49 - P&P.0 -

1. It should have at least a 1yr warranty. Nobody knows more until they get their PC - though if you look a few posts up you'll see the exprerience of 1 guy with regard to warranty.
2. Windows XP and lots of, well, rubbish! As for Media Player 10, it comes pre-installed with Widows XP and if you need to upgrade it then that's free.
3. I doubt it as it's not mentioned in the spec - the picture on the site is probably just off the dell site.
4. Short answer: Yes. Longer answer: depending on the video card supplied you may need a DVI-HD15 (old style/analogue monitor connection) converter (about £3). However, most low-cost video cards come with 1 HD15 and 1 DVI connector and I've never known a Dual-DVI video card to come without a free DVI-HD15 converter. Basically, don't worry about it - it will connect to your monitor fine.
5. If it's like my 5150 there are NO legacy (parallel, serial, PS/2 or mouse) ports. Everything is USB2. You will need a new printer but as they are *very* cheap nowadays, and any printer with a parallel port is likely to be rather old, that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Hope that helps.0
