You could probably do with upgrading your RAM to at least 512Mb...but if you don't play games or do any heavy graphic work would you really want to upgrade? I have a 5 year old Inspiron 8000 laptop with a P3 900Mhz CPU and really it's still a very workable machine for what I do on it.

I think you need to ask yourself what you would like to do with your PC that you can't now.

Mmm. Difficult one. It says stock is due in... so I would think you are okay. I saw it out of stock early last week and a couple of days later they did have stock. I would think the stock is coming from the same place as the BT site (as mentioned think BT bought Dabs) so possibly no difference. I still reckon it is bankrupt stock from somewhere which has never been unboxed.
  • We mainly use it for family stuff - hubbys work, he uses powerpoint alot, internet, photos etc eldest daughter (17) uses it for homework, chat, downloads lots of stuff and plays some games (mainly Sims) the main reason i would like another PC is because we have to share which at times is a nightmare my idea being that DD could have the existing PC and me and hubby could have new one - but then thinking about it i don't know how we would transfer stuff from one to the other and how to go about with rejigging the internet stuff either - hopeless

Well.... I doubt you will get a better deal than this for a while if you want another PC. You will need a screen though. The 5100 is a very expandable machine (though I am convinced you will get a 5150 as I did). The extra memory will help with photo editing and powerpoint. The extra processing the 3.0 or 3.4GHz will help with games. You can transfer from one to another easily enough - at worst by using the memory card from hubby's camera memory card... but more easily by DVD. They are solidly built, quite sexy, very quiet machines (I know this from having bought the cheap Pavillion from Dabs and am currently returning it - the hard disk noisewould drive me to distraction)... and I find the Dell website very useful for support and thier user Forum if you want to know anything or update your machine.
