Can you beg or borrow one of those mini-fridges from family or freecycle? The other option, for one day at least, is a coolbag with those icepacks inside - and you could make ice each day at work, maybe?
Good idea, never thought of that, DS has a mini fridge somewhere he used to use.
DS sounds like he's got to suddenly step up to the plate, its going to be a steep learning curve for him - but he's full adult, isn't he?
Oh yes, he's just not used to *thinking* -
Its tiring in this cold weather, isn't it - I was exhausted when I came in, tho its only 15 minutes walk (even at my present level of health!) into the town centre. Absolutely bitter weather, so not nice to come home to a cold house.
Lots of hugs
xx
DS is probably typical, he just doesn't think. There is food in the fridge, he decides to use his own money and get takeaway, but doesn't think it through. He'll have to do all this when he gets his own place, and on one level he *knows* about it, but knowing and doing are 2 separate things.
Today I got some Christmas stuff as well. Got some mini toiletries for hampers, the marshmallows for the snowman soup and also chocolate snowmen and santas; I've also ordered the sweets for my sisters 'old fashioned jar' - so far, have got :-
mojo's
fruit salads
black jacks
spearmint chews
'rabbit droppings' - chocolate covered toffee
the pink and blue ones out of licorice allsorts
chocolate jazzies
sherbet fountain
am still looking for sherbet dib dab and suspect you can't buy sweet cigarettes any more.

They sound fantastic! And I understand about DS, absolutely - its just encouraging them to put 2 + 2 together - more takeaway = less fresh food used up2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Someone brought a sherbet dip dab into work this week, I'll find out where it's from and let you know. Sweet cigarettes are still around but are now called "Candy sticks" HTH0

Morning,
bit of a lie in for me today - but on second cup of tea already.
List for today (ok and maybe tomorrow):-
kitchen - normal stuff
kitchen - clear at least one cupboard
freezer - defrost
bathroom - normal stuff
shopping
dining room - this is the big one
take photo of table and dismantle it - maybe put it on freecycle
persuade someone to put table in their garage if it doesn't go
move furniture round so that settee not blocking heat from radiator
take stuff off apple mac in case it dies - freecycle??
find somewhere else to put the ironing - maybe iron it and put it away
hoover downstairs
carpet clean downstairs
strip beds
launderette
I'm sure there's more
Made a chicken biryani last night, which is in the freezer, and we ate pie and chips for tea. Will no doubt find something I can have tomorrow when I defrost the freezer. There seems to be hardly anything in it, but no room.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

macgirl - thanks for that - I suspected that the correctness police would have got rid of cigarettes.
We still haven't got any snow, not sure whether to be glad or not.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Thats quite a lot! And brrrrrrrrr to a sofa blocking the radiator. As well as my list, I'm fiddling about all the time trying to store things more efficiently, but its very much a few minutes here and there. Have a good 'un anyway - see you later2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I also need to find an old curtain to put over the back door to prevent drafts. Really want that room to be more pleasant.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

My double glazed front door makes the hall freezing - the seals that fasten the door to the door jamb have a little gap at the corner (at night, if you're standing outside the house, you can see light shining through the gap  I thought something was wrong, but I've only just discovered what it was - must try and find out if there's a cheap way of filling that gap, some kind of sealant in a tube, maybe.
Let us know what that room is like after you've worked on it :beer:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Have done shopping, and spent less than £20 :T once the freezer is defrosted, I can work out how realistic that is.
Bathroom and kitchen both done
Shopping done. Have cleared table waiting for DS to take a photo of it.
Freezer is switched off and emptied.
Found a curtain, need to work out how to hang it, there used to be things called portiere rods that you used for door curtains.
Apple mac is copying stuff onto external hard drive.
...and did some ironing.
The rest of it really has to wait until DS wakes up - firstly because he has only had 5 hours sleep in the last few days so dont want him being too grumpy if I wake him with the hoover, and secondly, he can shift furniture and maybe get a mate to help
Once I am DF, double glazing is first on my list.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Sounds like a busy day already! I've noticed a freezing draft coming through the key hole in our back door and was wondering if we should hang a curtain on the door.
Also, we got radiator covers everywhere in this house and while they do look lovely - I think that they block out the heat...
As you know, we got double glazing in the last house just before we moved out, well worth the money I'd say.0
