Glad it wasn't just me. I was trying to post on your thread when it went down - can't remember what it was about now
Hope all's well today0 -
Hi all
yes I lost my post, then got back on, but then it all went west again, but other people seemed ok.
Had a decent sleep last night, but sat here watching the cricket, not good if you're an England fan.
Still haven't been paid, but meeting account manager next week, and it will be 4 weeks since I started, so should be ok by then. At least I'll have some money coming in over Christmas.
Off to scrape the ice off the car.

LOL at the size of Shrewsbury thing, I only just saw that post
I hope your auntie's funeral arrangements come clear - and your Christmas Day arrangements, sounds odd to be talking about them in the same sentence, but you know what I mean, I hope ...
And I hope you're not too cold today, with the journey you have to make. And that the hotel have got the heating turned up nice and high!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning,
back home, got up just as DS was going to bed. House really warm, hasn't he heard of jumpers?!
:wall:That's what I was going to post just as forums went off. Funeral is early Monday morning, so will just go to church, otherwise will mean going on to pub after and difficult to leave after that. Original plan was to take Mum, but she is going in one of the cars,so now have to get her to the house and then follow in my car to the church. Sister still making noises about 'I can take time off if I need it, so let me know if you are going', in other words, if I'm going, she won't.:wall:
Loads of DD's due to go out, so feeling a bit skint this weekend, have had to move savings to pay stuff. Really hoping money goes in on Monday as promised. So for now, have paid mortgage and moved £200 into current account. That's to fill car with petrol, gas and electric, food, and dd's. Will need to move more money to pay for flowers for funeral, and for hotel next week.
Once this money starts to come in, it'll be fine - I'll get paid every week, it's just the waiting....
We haven't got any snow, and its not that cold, so hope everyone else is OK.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

You're carrying a big family burden .... did you want to go on to the pub really? At least you won't be navigating your mum through it all, which can be a stress all on its own, but I'm sorry your sister isn't supporting you.
Financing the start of a job before the first payment comes in is tough, isn't it! You sound like you're managing it really well tho. Its cold here, tho I notice the grass hasn't frosted, just the tops of the binsI tried to get some walking in late yesterday afternoon, but it was freezing, no good me being out in that.
Hope its a good one for you.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC
no I didn't want to go to the pub, but if I didn't have to go to work it would have been difficult to get out of. And then once you get there, you have to speak to all the rellies, and it can go on for ever. Will make sure Mum is ok after funeral then get off, and make sure someone looks after her. Some cousins live near her, so they may volunteer.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Cousins can be good like that - my mum's twice been given a hand by cousins who lives half a mile or so away.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Ditto what KC said about you being backed into a corner by your sister - I know that feeling of duty only too well.
Hope your money goes in on Monday so you can breath a little. Have a good weekend x0 -
 DS had the fire on ALL last night, while I was in bed, and the heating on, this morning was fine, but have come home tonight and the house is freezing. the gas is on a meter and he'd used it all. So have shown him how to check, and any extra he will have to pay for.
Can feel a hypno style storecupboard challenge coming on as I have a fridge full of food that needs to be eaten as DS has been working extra hours while I've been away so not bothered to cook. Need to get it through to him that if he doesn't eat stuff, he needs to check the dates and freeze it.
So, have enough veg for quiche - if I blanch it or stir fry it tonight it should keep till tomorrow - there is chicken with a use by date of today, so will do something with it tonight and then freeze it, and a pie which will be tonights tea. The chicken seems ok, but tbh, I refuse to chuck it out, and was too tired last night to cook.
I think I can spare £35 for food this weekend, so if I have the quiche tomorrow, should be ok. Problem is getting food that i can take with me that doesn't need to be in a fridge, not quite reduced to the student thing of hanging stuff out of the window to keep it cold ( this time of year that should be fine:))

Can you beg or borrow one of those mini-fridges from family or freecycle? The other option, for one day at least, is a coolbag with those icepacks inside - and you could make ice each day at work, maybe?
DS sounds like he's got to suddenly step up to the plate, its going to be a steep learning curve for him - but he's full adult, isn't he?
Its tiring in this cold weather, isn't it - I was exhausted when I came in, tho its only 15 minutes walk (even at my present level of health!) into the town centre. Absolutely bitter weather, so not nice to come home to a cold house.
Lots of hugs
