I didn't know you were a Scouser KC!
Both my parents are Irish, but most of their families moved here in the 60's to find work and are spread all over the Country now. Due to the size of the family, we're not that close, but it's great to see everyone when we do meet up. So I'm really looking forward to the party :)

Yep! :rotfl: Bootle born and bred (well, till we moved to Aigburth anyway). Confession: I actually grew up in Wallasey :eek::eek: which I hated, passionately. Still do, along with Virgin Media :D

I'm a scouser in my soul, with lots of Irish roots, but further back than yours... Yorkshire roots too.

Gill - just realised we've sort of hijacked the thread. Are you ok, would you rather some of this be deleted?

Don't worry about it, I like reading of all the connections people have, its just so random.

Oh and talking of which KC, mentioned junior school to sister last night and she said the headmaster was the person you mentioned.
My families Irish roots are the usual ones. We are the only non-catholic bit of the family.

Thats good, on both counts :)

And really, when you think about it - wherever you go in the world, there's a Scot, an Irish person, and a Scouser :D we rule the world :D

at the risk of sounding like a character in an Enid Blyton story *gosh* I was tired last night. If I hadn't pottered round on here, I would have been asleep by 8. Went to bed at 10 and slept till around 6. Made myself a cuppa and took it back to bed, eventually got up at 7. Not sure its done me any good though, feel really tired still.

I still want to take Mum out for lunch today, but she may not be up to it. I may just bring her back to mine for a few hours, and take her shopping as she hasn't really been out other than hospital visits for a while.

Have got an ironing pile that looks like you need a miners lamp to get to the bottom of, or a sherpa to get to the top. So must tackle some of that today.

And I think I know where the wire thing is for the camera, so may do some photos.

Don't underestimate how much the family circumstances take it out of you - even though you're not full of grief, its still a very intense situation, and you're at full stretch anyway with the new job.

    Have a nice one.

  • Mum was not keen to go out for lunch but persuaded her to do her hair etc. and I'd pick her up and just take her shopping. We went to local shops near me, she was made up to go to a 'proper butcher' who not only sold her some bacon ribs, but icut them into small pieces for her. We then went next door to the green grocers, where they chopped a cabbage in half! Wandering back to the car, we were going for a cuppa, so steered her towards a pub, so we had a nice lunch. I've now dropped her off with one of her sisters, and a cousin is going to take her home later after giving her tea.

So a good day had by all. I'm on jacket spud and cheese for tea, but much later, as not used to eating at lunch time.

Sounds like you coaxed her into, I'm sure it did her good. Have a nice evening :)
  • Its a bit cold here, so don't really fancy going out to eat, so will head out in a bit, before I get too comfortable. There are apparently more places to eat at the other side of town, which horrified me a bit until I realised how small Shrewsbury is compared to Liverpool, and its only a 10 minute walk from one side to the other.

Aunties funeral is Monday, so will have to work out getting Mum there, but as yet we don't know the times. DS thinks that maybe he should go, but not too sure.

Mind mapped some stuff including Christmas, because one of the big questions is 'where?' - normally go to sisters, but too many people are working Christmas day so she isn't doing dinner until 7, which is far too late for Mum. So need to get thinking cap on.

Off to eat now, then back to watch Miranda, and that Good Life thing. Oh the joys of tv.

  • Ah well, I did post yesterday, but the forums seemed to go off just as I submitted it. Just as well, as it was a bit of a rant about my sister, so good thing it isn't there. Couldn't get back on after that as internet in hotel seemed to be really poor.

So quick post and run, no time to read diaries as going to eat then go to bed. Catch up tomorrow.
