Getting out of my comfort zone

Morning all
today is going to be yet another blitz the house day. Had a mad panic, that if I do get this job, I will be away a fair bit and the last thing I want is to come home to housework. So if it starts off ok, DS should be able to maintain it on his own, its the full on blitz that he's no good at.
Prompted by a comment on hypno's thread I have re-done the mortgage calculator.
Here is what I put on her threadAfter some glitches with the mortgage calculator, it kept telling me my current payments weren't enough to clear the mortgage, I love the results. If I carry on overpaying at the rate I am doing, I will save 5 years and nearly £20K in interest. It also means that my lump sum I get with my pension, whenever that is, which was going to pay the mortgage off early, will be MINE!!!
So I actually think that it makes better financial sense to throw spare money at the mortgage, as the debt is now manageable and will disappear all by itself with my current repayments by March of next year.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Oops - sounds like the complete opposite! *But* a weekend's hard work will reap rewards. You'll be less stressed if everything is in order when work takes up more of your time.
I daren't look at the mortgage calculator
Hope you have a productive day - don't forget to take lots of 15 minutes tea breaks - Flylady style - to keep yourself going0 -
I looked at my mortgage as just another debt, so slotted it in the snowball calculator in APR order - when it became sensible to throw money at the mortgage instead of at the debt, that is what I started to do, whereas before I would have just left it til last which would have cost me money!
And it is amazing what difference it makes throwing a bit of extra cash at the mortgage over a period of time - as you say, 5 years and a shedload of interest! Thank goodness we found MSE otherwise we might just let them run for the natural course of their lives!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. I've cleared mounds of ironing while watching old Doctor Who on Watch. And I'm sorry Matt Smith, but David Tennant was a better Doctor. I still love the music as well in the final series as there is different themes for different parts of the story. The music at the end of Journeys End is fantastic.
My lovely tidy living room is now a tip, as DS went out and bought a new computer, well all its component parts, and decided to open all the boxes to show me.
Off to bed soon as up early to watch the Japanese Grand Prix.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

hi Gill - your weekend sounds as busy as your week! I think it is a good idea to try and get things straight ready for your new job... Is there any way you could pay for a couple of hours cleaning help to keep on top of things as you are going to be working long days?
We finally got some down time. We were going out tonight so watched Percy Jackson and the lightening thief with the kids at dinner and had pizza and popcorn and then went out to a friends house for "dinners for sixes" with some people from church. It's a bit like come dine with me but without the scoring or the rudeness! We were each responsible for a different part of the meal. We had one of our best nights of the year! For laughter and fun it ranked up there in the top 3 which is pretty cool.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I would think about getting a cleaner, except that DS works nights, so he wouldn't appreciate anyone hoovering during the day when he was trying to sleep. And I'd have to do a load of tidying before anyone could startOn the plus side, the fact that he's asleep during the day and at work at night should stop him untidying anywhere except his own room.
Glad you got some down time, sounds like a good idea.
I was up early this morning to watch the Japanese Grand Prix, and then fell asleep. Have now made soup and put the bread maker on. So thats lunches for a while sorted.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Hi KC
not sure organised is the right word lol.
In work I am super organised, lists, plans etc. but it never translates to home somehow.
Tomorrow is when the Finance Manager gets budget approval to take me on, so I will know how much they are paying for my 'highly prized' services, and I am going to see them with an outline of what I can do for them. They are paying me just to go and discuss it with them!
I've also been thinking about this a bit, when I first got a temp job, I saw it just as that, a temp job. The next contract I saw more as an opportunity to network etc. Now I am thinking about how to take this further. That's what I get for reading MG thread- can't do too much as there's only me and a limited amount of hours in a week, but have some plans.
