I didn't like my umbrella company experience - never got paid what I expected.... I think theoretically I was better off but didn't always feel that way

Yes thats how it seems, I've been paid again so am going to print out payslips tomorrow and try to see what is going on. It's something to do with what comes off the top line and what is taxable, but I've forgotten all the rules.

Should be a good weekend, been paid yippee! and also had backdated pay from one of other jobs, as it was sort of commission based and they had to work out what was mine and what was the person who picked up my stuff mid week.

Am going to take £120 out

Bus pass bought for a month so no bus fares
    £15 petrol
    £35 gas and electric

a massive £70 for groceries, but feel I should treat us a bit because its a long weekend. And have been using up so much left over stuff when I wasn't working that I really should stock up a bit.

Probably won't need it all, but there is a leaving do after work tonight. Don't really want to go, as not a drinker but it's probably a good idea to seem sociable, but not getting into any rounds or anything.

Have done scratchies and 2 lightspeed surveys, online banking so have padded to the cc's.

    you too!

Will be doing a bit of diary trawling in a while.

Went for a quick drink, but they started with a £20 kitty, so I opted out straight away. It takes an awful lot of lime&soda to get your moneys worth out of that sort of kitty. They were well into it when I left.

hi Gill - sounds like you have your head screwed on. Sounds like a good decision to leave the drinking party. Hope you have a great Easter.

Haven't been around for ages so lots of catching up to do so pleased that you have a new job and hope it leads to other things.

Well done on the debt front you will soon be under that 3K barrier.

And yes I do think you deserve a treat for the long weekend.

Today was the first day back after the bank holiday, and its a sign of how less stressed I am that it didn't bother me going back in. This time last year, I was crying all the time, and far too stressed for my own good.

Part of it is that this job is well within my capabilities, but that is reflected in the wages. For now, it suits me to just turn up, do the job, and then go home.

Have got a massive cake off my Mum (the one in the M&S advert) - how she thinks 2 of us are going to be able to eat it all I have no idea :rotfl:

I've got my payslip for this week and in the deductions column is a credit (!) which means that this weeks wages is more than the last 2 weeks added together, and more than the gross pay would be! I think its because I was on emergency tax code, but will be honest and check with them, otherwise they'll only take it back at some other point.
