Had real problems finding tops as its coming to summer and they were all short sleeved, and I only wear long or elbow length, even in the height of summer! Managed to get a couple that were ok though, and a nice long cardie thingy all on the reduced rail in Mr T, so £12 in total. With the cardie I can now use some of my long sleeve tee shirts t@rted up with scarves - they look a bit casual without.

note to self - if you lose weight you've got a wardrobe full of stuff!

Need to organise myself today. With DS working nights, and me doing 9 to 5, we will probably pass each other on the train, so need to check there's enough in for his tea etc that he can cook himself quickly.

Have just hung washing out on the line, breadmaker and slow cooker both going on soon, doing tomtoms chilli, that should keep me stocked up.

Have been doing a bit of diary trawling, but not been on here as financially nothing to report.

Had to pack in my other jobs so have been rushing to and fro doing that. One of them is regulated under FSA and I had to fill in all sorts of waiver forms etc. and as I was technically self employed I had to fill in a form agreeing to be terminated, which seemed a bit harsh. They would have me back anyway, and Manager said I could always put him down as a reference so that was good. Not picked all wages yet, as they have to work out if I owe them for stationery or anything.

Had to make a decision about new job whether to be properly self employed and submit invoices, or to go through umbrella company, who obviously take a cut. For this one, as its only short term, I've decided to go with umbrella company for now.

Should get quite fit with all the walking to bus, train, or if I do use the car, its a hike to a cheap car park. Have been putting pedometer on, and doing 7000 steps just from house to work and back, without all the up and down stairs during the day.

Enough rambling, going to do tea now.

I was in your neck of the woods today Gill and my colleague had her pedometer on. She reckons we did over 16,000 steps  No wonder I'm shattered!

World had been a bit hectic, what with job etc. and having to give up the part time stuff.

I really miss the little jobs, and am finding it really difficult to remember what day it is. They are all the same now. It used to be Friday - pub, Saturday/Sunday off licencse, Monday Courier, Tuesday office and deliveries etc. Now its just Monday to Friday and it feels weird.

Got paid yesterday so need to do some serious number crunching. Daft as it sounds I am actually not better off by much so won't be able to make big inroads into the debt.

So for now I have decided to work it just the way I did before, and have drawn out £100 for gas/electric petrol and groceries, and see how that goes. Some of my costs are more, travel to work etc. and there aren't facilities for heating up food, so have to do sandwich type stuff. I can claim some of these back, but not sure yet how long it will take.
Am hoping fuel bills will be less as not in the house, but petrol will definitely be less.

I am definitely feeling fitter as walking more, going out to get fresh air at lunchtime etc.

Oh Gill, you sound a bit flat. Has the daily grind got to you already? I suppose the positive is that the economy does seem to be picking up and now you are in a job, other jobs may not be that hard to find. That way your income will increase and you might feel it's more worthwhile...

Hope I'm reading that wrong and you are fine and enjoying the job. Take care :)

The job is fine, its not really challenging enough though, but its a way back in. Gives me the chance to look for something more 'me'.

I'd forgotten what it was like to be with the same people all the time as my part time jobs involved customers so were always different. I'd got out of the routine and am just finding it a bit odd at the moment. I'd got used to shopping daily and cooking from scratch, so I need to find a routine that works for me, being paid though does help.

Today I have walked to the cemetery to see my Dad and my Nan, about a mile each way, so feel better for doing that. Have raided the freezer and found a cook from frozen chicken joint I bought when it was on offer 'just in case' at Christmas so will cook that and get back into planning stuff. Have been pottering roud the yard, and the garlic is coming up, the tomatoes and peppers are looking good, and I can't remember what's in another box, think its carrots.

DS has just rung from work, he is being paid extra for today anyway, and the boss has just given them all £40 and bought them MacDonalds. Not bad for parking cars for the half marathon.

And on the definitely plus side, Doctor Who is back next weekend. Seen some of the trailers on red button, will have to wait and see.

hi Gill - it is always hard when you start a new job.... Lots of changes at once from the sound of it. Frustrating when the money isn't want you want but at least you are keeping your hand in. Hope you manage to find a supportive routine soon.

Yep, lots of changes at once.

I haven't quite got the hang of how getting paid through agency/umbrella company works either, so can't work money out. This weeks pay is more than last weeks, although the basic is the same, no idea why tax and NI are different from week to week, on the same tax code. Will have to read up on it a bit.
