So far today I've attacked the mountain of ironing, but I do it in little stages so it doesn't frighten me too much! Haven't done any cooking as the freezer is full of remnants so am going to eat some of them before I start any more, even though I do have my freegle freezer still to fill.
Have had a phone call from agency about temp job I applied for. Its only a 4 week contract but it may be worth looking at. She is going to see if they will up the rate a bit as its in Birmingham so 100 miles away and would need me to stay over. Money is worth it, but financially complicated ie. is it worth giving up all the part time stuff to do it? Some of the part time I could still do, the pub job and the off license, its just the courier stuff and the canvassing and leaflet delivery that may have to go. Hey ho, cross that bridge later.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

thanks, after nothing for ages, all of a sudden the phone has been red hot.
Have now been put forward by agencies for 6 jobs  one is the 4 week one in Birmingham and the rate for that has gone up because they want a quick win. There are 2 more which are more local and a few that require a bit of travelling.
SH - have you ever done this were they ask you what rate you want for the job? I ask because I know you were on temp contract. I never know what to put, I've worked out what my old salary was per hour and used that as a baseline but not sure if this is realistic.
Money stuff:
Lost track of cash last week as Mum owed me money as did DS so drew out cash and have had some back so very confused.com
Payday today. Think last weeks budget was a bit unrealistic as need to factor in things that I buy for DS and Mum and then get money back for, so will budget again for £50, knowing that I will get £15 back so its really £35 rather than budgeting £35 and then worrying.
Freezer is still full, fridge looking a little empty though.
Have a list, have a plan. I've made soup today with the remains of the chicken from Sunday, so will put BM on later. For lunch have had the remains of last nights stir fry, remains of chicken plus whoopsied beansprouts and bits of veg lying round fridge.
Only problem with using up leftovers, eventually you do have to go out and buy fresh stuff! Only works for a while, then it runs out.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Hi Gill, just catching up.
Sorry to hear about your Dad. I can't say anything to help, but I do really feel for you
I have friends who have had some horrendous times, but so far it has escaped me, though I know sadness and loss is a part of life that will effect me one day.....hugs to you.
As for the jobs - what a result :T I was going to say go for the Birmingham one, as you never know where it might lead - or what contacts you could make for the future, but the other jobs sound encouraging too!
Regards pay rate, could you ring a different agency for advice? Otherwise I would go off your last salary, but add a bit more on - they can always knock you down can't they?
Take care xx0 -

Thanks for that, it depends on how long some of these others take to get financial approval as it may be worth taking the Birmingham one in the short term, to get some cash in the bank.
That's sort of what I've done with the salary, looked at some sites for contracting pay, compared it with what I used to get and added a bit on because of the uncertainty of contracting.
Hopefully something will come of them. One of them definitely contacted the agency specifically on seeing my CV and asked about me. Apparently the agencies take your personal details off and blank out the names of employers, but this client worked out who I was - it's quite a narrow area I work in and they recognised the projects.
On the very plus side, I have got so used to living off what's in the cupboards etc., making presents, being imaginative with food, that once I do start work I should be able to pay things off quickly. At the moment, other than mortgage etc. I am surviving on £100 per week, so anything over that is a bonus.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

:T:T:T:T:T That's the place I want to be - so well done, that's brilliant! (every cloud and all that) :A0 -
I would ask for around what you got last time plus a bit!

Am sat here trying to be very quiet as DS and his mates are broadcasting a performance over the internet. How?? Why??
Done food shopping, budget was £50 but with the idea that I would only spend £35, actual spend £17.50. Have to get something for tomorrow, but that won't cost £17.50.
Ordered some more Coke from Approved Foods, have to keep adding other stuff so it looks ok, (mainly buying rice) but even with delivery it works out cheaper than anywhere else. DS gives me £20 a week to make sure he always has coke and crisps, and have spent £13 on enough to last him a fortnight, so I win.
Tea was a lovely stir fry. Just cheap bag of stir fry veg, soy sauce, wine and spices with portion of rice - total cost around 50p.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Hi Gill
My meals so far today smart price porridge - cheap and £1 pizza between 2 cheap - and for DD and her friend spag bol at 50p each. Don't know what the others had for dinner but was pleased with a £2 cost of tea - DS was out!
I have prepared OH some quorn and sweet chilli sauce and rice - which is probably £1 each portion but not bad. Left a couple in the fridge and frozen the other 2. Hopefully that will help minimise his bingeing temptation!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
