Morning people
Internet in hotel not very good last night, so every time I tried to move to a thread it told me that 'moneysavingexpert.com is not available, check you have typed the address correctly'.
I've got to work out the logistics of getting to the interview, and there is a presentation, but as the aim of the presentation is not to show knowledge, but to prove you can do it, I don't yet know the subject. It doesn't necessarily have to be powerpoint either, which is quite good, as unless you have access to some really good clips, it is known in my industry as 'death by powerpoint'; where bit by bit, you lose your audience.
Sunny day at the moment here, so will see how the day progresses and try and get out for a walk.
Mum has had a visit from the senior district nurse who was appalled that she doesn't have much in the way of aids around the house, so something may be done about that.

Positive vibes for today

Glad to hear your mum might get some adaptive aids around the house - they can make a big difference.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning
things really move fast when they start moving:jWe have done what we can, putting a chair in the kitchen and bathroom etc. but there's lots we can't do for her.
Today, someone is coming to Mum's to fit a bath lift. It's one of the things that bothers her, she has a grab rail to help her out of the bath, but she doesn't have the strength to pull herself up. She doesn't have a shower, which would have been easier. They have suggested in the long term taking her bath out, but she doesn't want that, but if they could fit a shower over the bath, it would at least give her an option.I'll see what else they can do.
So once my veg box has arrived, I will be off to Mum's. Will use the time to plan out my presentation, map out the things I need to cover.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

A bath lift would be amazing! I think with a shower over the bath, although it might help with washing her hair for instance, even with a non slip surface its too tricky for somebody who's not mobile - my mum hasn't used the shower over the bath for years, she'll only shower when there's a proper shower tray to stand in.
Excellent news!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC
yes its more for washing her hair etc. she's used a jug for years! She's never wanted a shower, but she was in her sisters house the other week, and the sister has a chair that swivels into the bath; she was telling Mum that sometimes she swivels the chair round, and then sort of has a shower sat on the chair, which might be easier when Mum isn't feeling too good.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Veg delivery has arrived which now leaves me the rest of the day - shopping list done, then off to Mum's.
As an aside, until reading Martin Lewis' blog yesterday I didn't know he had a column in the news of the world, as I've never bought it. He had what to me seems like a slightly bizarre view of why he should keep going.
There are often conflicts, but you have to deal with them. I have never purchased the Liverpool Echo since discovering their underhand tactics. When there is a death in the family,I refuse to have my name put in any of the notices, much to the disgust of my sister who thinks people will talk about me. I would sooner be talked about than be associated with them, or put money in their pockets.
But it has made me question the motives or morals of ML.

Good lord. I'd sort of stopped reading Martin's blog .... just read it now (and the comments!!!) his excuse for carrying on writing sounds suspiciously like the justification the law refuses to accept "I was only following orders" - its not the same, not really, it just has an echo to it - sounds totally dodgy to me, he really sounds like he's got things out of proportion.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
