    Morning

beautiful sunny day here and lots to do, but I'm NOT going to do a list.

I've been thinking for a while about why I have problems sleeping, and was posting something on KC's thread when my mind made an automatic connection while thinking about something else.

When my Dad was ill (he suffered from severe depression and was in a psychiatric unit) and came home for weekends, he had a list of things to achieve that weekend. The list went something like :-
    Get up
    Get washed
    Get dressed

and would then have an extra thing on like - make a cup of tea, or walk to the shop and buy a paper.
Somehow I just made the connection, that's why I don't like lists :(

I've always been a light sleeper, and not needed much sleep. But on 2 occasions in my life, I've been in a deep sleep and not heard the phone. One was the night my dad died, Mum was ringing me for half an hour and I didn't hear the phone. I was eventually woken up by the police hammering on the door :eek:The second was the night Mum had her first heart attack, I didn't hear her call, or the next door neighbour ringing me.

While thinking about lists, my mind made an automatic connection.I'm scared of missing a phone call again.

    Bit deep for a Friday

Deep, and really, really important. I hope that helps you get some deeper sleep soon, or more refreshing sleep. As for the lists .... do you *really* need lists? You could keep the postit notes people in business by writing one thing per postit, and dotting them around one particular wall :) It sounds so sad about your dad, tho, full of unhappy memories ... we do what we can, and we do it when we can - you've just made some breakthroughs there :grouphug:

    Money post:

Payday today, so all bills paid.

    Money in purse - 35
    Money in bank - plenty!

I need to do a 'proper' shop but will try to fit it in round everything else including checking on the painting thats been going on in Mum's house. DS and BIL have been doing it, and didn't want to interfere with what they were doing, but suspect it will need a few more coats.
Cupboards looking a bit bare, no fresh veg etc. But its market day today so that's fine.

I posted about the mortgage etc. but it disappeared.
In the last year, my mortgage has reduced by 5,700, of which around 800 is overpayments. So it should start making even more of a difference as I pay more off the capital each time. At the moment less than 40% of the payment is interest and this is going down each month - or will until they put interest rates up again!

    Morning
well yesterday. Started off great, such a lovely day, and descended into the usual family mayhem. Mum is obviously better as she turned on me again. But this time sister was with me. I was so upset and angry that I left. Sister stayed and thought Mum would apologise, but no. Sister really shocked. Whole family up in arms etc. Sleepless nights for all concerned.

Today, well its beautiful again, and I'm not going to let her get to me. So I'm doing my own thing. Will maybe walk to local shops as DS and BIL went to costco and got the big stuff, cans of drink for DS, soap powder etc. I did get fresh stuff in the market yesterday, so will try to keep spending down as quite proud of mortgage payments.

Have also had a letter about gym membership. I used to go loads, but with working away I put the membership on hold. They are now changing and there is much better tariffs available, which may make it worth keeping the membership even if I only go once or twice.

    Hope everyones enjoying the sunshine.

Oh blimey, Gill - what a pain. Positive thoughts aplenty to managing to put it all behind you, and having a nice day today pottering - well, a lot more than pottering, if you go to the gym, eek. Any good GPs on this weekend?

I quite fancy pottering today. I still have a lovely clear yard, so will sort out my salad veg, read the stuff about how much sun etc. and move the pots around accordingly. My sister has given me some old garden chairs too, so now have something so sit on other than dining room chair.

Sounds good to me. And growing your own salad veg sounds especially attractive now that we don't know where this dratted e coli is coming from.

OK, will keep this brief otherwise in danger of getting into rant mode!

Didn't potter, ended up at Mum's house putting all the furniture back where it belongs, even though the decorating isn't finished (long story - related to the family mayhem:(). That took most of the day. Such a beautiful day too - it was in the 70's here.

Shopping yesterday less than 20 quid so pleased with that.

Tea was chicken fajitas, chicken from freezer, fajitas etc from store cupboard.

Today, ironing, packing etc. Tea is risotto for me, some sort of pie I found in the freezer for DS. (I've peeled away some pastry and it doesn't look like fruit ;))

Have had to renew Kaspersky for DS. Annoys me really, as I don't have anti virus on my machine.

Can't potter today as its dull and overcast and we keep getting little showers.
