KC that's exactly what we did!

Switched the oven on full, with the oven thermometer showing in the window and when it got to the right temperature, turned the dial until the red light went out. That's how we know how to do it using the dial as a clock. I'd get annoyed if I couldn't write neatly enough, so we know what 'time' certain temperatures are, and everything else is somewhere in between. It makes perfect sense to me:D

It's far too nice a day to be stuck in an office, so I took myself out today to do random site inspections. Strange how we managed to pick fencing, and checks on scaffolding etc. rather than plumbing and internal works ;)

I need some new shoes, am in ballerina pumps today as they were the lightest I could find, but miss having a slight heel, so need something a bit more 'summery' but not sandals. I've seen some beautiful ones in a shop near here, but the fact that there isn't a price tells me that I can't afford them!

I am going to go out for a walk, I've worked it out, if I go the way I go to zumba, and then go a different way back, its about 3 miles and I may be daring and get something to eat in a pub.

    Morning

    is it just me??

Logged onto online banking, it always wants 3 digits from PIN and then 3 from password, not a problem. This morning, it asked for 1st 2nd and 3rd digits from PIN - OK there are only 4 so its not that odd.
Then it asked for 4th 5th and 6th characters from password. So I logged back out and back in again as that seemed too random to me!

Hi Gill - hope you manage to get it fixed.

Has your DS managed to get a new job yet? Is he still doing the DJ stuff?

The weather is set to be glorious tomorrow - and I'm off - Woohoo!

    Hi SH

hopefully the weather will be good today, no work for me, so not sure what to do yet.

Have got to get the element for the oven, or no roast for us at the weekend.

Hi SH - DS is doing a few DJ jobs, which earn him around 50 quid and free drinks, so he's only signing on for his NI contributions at the moment. No sign of a job, he may end up back doing security at this rate as thats all he can find.

    Beautiful day here

    Washing already hung out
Machine on - again - does it never end!

Money has got a bit confusing this week, got paid early from one job (the one thats ending next week) but the other one - would normally be paid on Wednesday, but the Manager was off so there was a delay, and with all the bank holidays no idea when it will go in. Also timesheet for this week can't be authorised as the company email system was broke, so nobody will have received the email before going home for the weekend.

So will have to use some money out of the Tax account. In some ways its good to be able to say that - this time last year it would have been unthinkable. I'll try and keep spends to a minimum, so planning on about 50

I did plan on bringing Mum to my house for a few hours on Sunday and doing a proper dinner, but still have no oven as the part has to be ordered. So unless she fancies burger and chips!
Sister has suggested hiring a wheelchair for a week so that Mum can get out for a few hours, its too nice to be stuck in and she can't walk far.

Glad your phone is now sorted. Shame about the oven and DS's job isutation.

With regard to the wheelchair - I think ableworld rent them out for a few weeks at a time if it helps. Some national trust places also have wheelchairs and motability scooters you can borrow if you perhaps ring ahead... Worth trying

Hope you do manage to help her get out and about as I am sure it would do her good in all the glorious sunshine we've been having!

Yeah - if you look back to where either of us were last year financially, this year is better so need to hold on to that really....

Quick post and run, as laptop is about to run out of charge and I've left my charger at Mum's.

Friend has lent me a halogen oven, but no instructions, so did a not very successful pie yesterday. Maybe should have started simpler.

Spends yesterday 19.37 so not bad (really must find the pound sign)

    Hi SH

Have been busy but relaxed - if that makes sense

I've finally got to the VERY bottom of the ironing. I generally iron enough stuff for work, and a few other bits, so it starts to be a mountain. So, other than what's on the line, thats it.
Saturday, sister and I took Mum to Matalan - she's lost so much weight nothing fits her, and she doesn't want to spend loads. BIL looked into hiring a wheelchair while we were in Matalan, works out at just over 2 pound a day, but had to leave a massive cheque deposit!
In the meantime, we used one from Matalan. She was very tired though, but enjoyed getting out of the house. I bought myself a blouse for work - really bright coral type colour, and a grey skirt and trousers.

So yesterday, picked her up, took her to a cafe and a walk/push around some gardens, then mine for lunch and then to sisters, where my brother also turned up, so a family day was had.

    Spends Saturday, 7.35 in butchers
    21 in Matalan

    no spends yesterday

Today, its a bit dull at the moment, but it may brighten up. I've stripped both beds so there is a duvet cover on the line, no big problem if it doesn't get dry.

Hope everyones had a good weekend.
