So disappointed with my Miele washing machine

thanks for all your helpful advice and comments and you are quite correct - it is unfair for me to moan on here without giving Miele the chance to rectify the problem. I shall call them in the morning and ask them for their advice. They were very concerned when I called them and at a loss as to why I was having a problem getting my washing clean so I'm sure they will be happy to send someone out. Yes I was given the form to fill in for the 5 year guarantee at Comet and have sent it off to Miele. As a matter of interest does anyone know if Miele's own make of washing powder is non-bio? I certainly don't mean to bad-mouth Miele - I was just wanting to express my disappointment as I was expecting great things and am feeling let down but they can't rectify it if I don't let them. i bought it on credit card. thanks very much indeed for your offer CKD designer (sorry if I keep getting your name wrong - once you start typing a reply you can't get back up to look at previous posts to check names) and I can tell you really want to defend Miele which I think is good but I shall ring Miele myself0

You really need to contact Miele as something is obviously wrong. Either with the machine or installation and Miele will sort it out but you need to tell them. If you want to send me your details in a PM then I will happily book the call for you and make sure they don't charge you.
The engineer won't need to wait for an hour for the machine to spin as the machine has a separate spin program.
Please get this resolved as it is not really fair you publishing your disappointment on this forum without giving Miele a chance to sort it out.

Do Miele charge for callouts?:eek::eek::eek: Is that why you offered a free callout, if the OP contacted you? If so, how much are callouts, and are all callouts chargable while the machine is under guarantee?
I can only imagine that for the price of 2-3 callouts from Miele, you could probably buy a low-end Bosch with FREE callouts for the duration of the 2 year warranty. :rotfl::rotfl:Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
If you registered your guarantee with Miele I would contact them directly Melb. I registered my washing machine with Hoover online and thought it was ok to ring them when I needed a repair within the guarantee period. If there are any charges I am sure Miele would inform you over the telephone. I can only go by what I was told by Hoover and they told me if the problem with the machine was caused by me they would charge. Luckily it was the machine at fault and nothing that I had done! So got the repair/call out for free.
ETA: If the powder says enzyme free then it is non bio. I tried to do a google search but couldn't find out what is in the powder. (They do laundry liquid too.) However, I came across this forum that might be of help:

In all fairness, this thread has opened my eyes about what to expect from a Miele machine - why hide the truth?

One of the major features of buying a
Miele is you dont ever seem to have the
repair man out.I dont know anyone who
has ever had theirs repaired.
Its the main reason I bought it,know well
enough the experience of machines packing
in and forced to use a launderette in between
the break down and the repair man calling.
But have met the Bosch man twice the Indesit
man once, Ariston man, well he might as well of
moved in and the Hotpoint man has had more
cuppas in our place than I care to mention
tot this lot up and I could buy two Mieles
especially when you factor in money spent
in launderettes in between breakdowns and
visits.
This situation sounds like a one off to me:j:j:j0 -
I do not know how you treat your appliances, but we have had a few over the years ( always the cheaper makes, so often decried by various posters on this forum). In 48 years we have had one new freezer compressor and one visit to a Hotpoint Twin Tub in the 1960's. So it is either the luck of the draw or misuse, in my humble opinion.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Dear Basmic
Miele will charge for a call out just like any other manufacturer whether in guarantee or not, if the problem with the appliance is deemed to be a user error/issue.
Infact the Miele engineers I have found to be the most professional and even if the issue is user error, will generally book the call as no charge. That's because they are a top quality brand that has pretty much the best engineers in the business.
I hope this explains to you my previous post.

I also still think the machine is incredibly noisy and vibrates to such an extent that things fall off the top of it while it's spinning - in fact the other day I opened the fridge which is opposite it while it was spinning and something fell out of the fridge.
Defintely something wrong if this is happening. You can hardly hear or feel mine, even when it's doing a 1600 spin.
Like CKD states, they will only charge if after they've been out they discover it was user error in use or installation. So make sure you've triple checked everything you could be responsible for. I think there's a list of things to check in the back of the manual.0 -
I know transit bolts have already been discussed, and you said they had been removed. But I just wondered whether they ALL have been. When we had our new Bosch a couple of months ago, we weren't aware of transit bolts.
When first switched it on, it literally ran across the floor, it was scary  Anyway we found out what the problem was and removed the 2 tranist bolts. Seemed ok for a couple of washes, but still quite loud and bangy. Eventually realised there were a further 2 transit bolts which we'd missed. On removing them, it went all nice and quiet and also, importantly, began washing things noticeably better.
Just thought it may be worth another quick check? HTH and hope you get it sorted out soon, I know how much time and effort goes into finding the best washing machine at the best price.0 -
Is there any update on this? I`d really like to know how the OP has got on...0
