So disappointed with my Miele washing machine

OP, I hope you got your problem sorted? I know it wont help but I wanted to add that I have just got a new washing machine & am disappointed in mine too. It's only a Hoover, not a Miele, but still, I had hopes for a beautiful long lasting relationship! Maybe I'll come to love it, but I'm wishing I'd paid for a Miele as everyone always rave about them (til you of course)0

As a Bosch Logixx 8 owner, I was planning on saving up for top end Miele - I'm having second thoughts now.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

I had a top-notch AEG which suddenly stopped working and replaced it with a cheap BEKO. I love it - it takes loads more washing (8kg) than the posh one did and has really useful quick and gentle washes too. It's quieter and more flexible. Sticking to cheap makes from now on0

thanks for your interest and sorry for everyone else's woes! I really should have updated but nothing to really update I'm afraid. No it's not really sorted - I'm still sort of monitoring the situation and wondering where to go from here. The Miele washing powder seemed to do the job with some of the whites and gave them a really whiter than white glow but I'm not convinced it's non-bio which I always use. I also still think the machine is incredibly noisy and vibrates to such an extent that things fall off the top of it while it's spinning - in fact the other day I opened the fridge which is opposite it while it was spinning and something fell out of the fridge. I should be more proactive but don't really know if my quibble is with miele or comet. what if I do as CAD engineer suggests and get a miele engineer out - will he have to wait here for an hour to wait for it to spin. I might try ringing miele during spin mode and see what they think. will keep you posted.0

Something is amiss if it vibrates like that - Miele machines are very heavy and solid as a rock. I would speak to Consumer Direct to see who you need to take this up with up but definitely pursue it. If you paid by credit card then they are equally liable if it gets to claiming a refund. I hope it doesn`t come to that - if Miele do not sort his out for you then they will go right down in my opinion. Their prices are justified by their supposed high quality and excellent customer service so I would expect them to be doing all they can to correct this for you even if it means you must have a brand new machine.
Please do update us on what happens, this thread will be an interesting read for anyone considering a Miele purchase in the future. Any Miele peeps reading here take note...!0 -

I replaced my Hoover recently with a BEKO and I absolutely love it! upto 8kg load and quiet as a mouse! All for under £250 and quidco; and v clean clothes. I did look at the new LG 11kg but at over £800 I couldn't justify it.
Please take the offer someone made on here to help you. Or ask someone to go with you to comet! I'm useless at returns and often need some moral support but for a new machine it's not right. best of luck xx0 -
Dear Melb
You really need to contact Miele as something is obviously wrong. Either with the machine or installation and Miele will sort it out but you need to tell them. If you want to send me your details in a PM then I will happily book the call for you and make sure they don't charge you.
The engineer won't need to wait for an hour for the machine to spin as the machine has a separate spin program.
Please get this resolved as it is not really fair you publishing your disappointment on this forum without giving Miele a chance to sort it out.
Regards

I'd be interested to hear the outcome. I purchased a 8kg Candy washing machine from a local shop a few months back. When the panel lights started to go haywire I rang Candy/Hoover directly as it is still in guarantee. I didn't want to deal with the shop that sold me the machine as they had already proved themselves incompetent by messing me around on delivery. The engineer replaced the selector dial and it's working fine.
OP, just ring Miele back and get their engineer to come out. Please keep this thread updated as I've only heard positive things about Miele products.0 -
Good morning
stick with the miele, we purchased a miele from john lewis about 2 yrs ago
and it has been excellent, on the 60c cycle it cleans perfectly.
My son came home with dirty/oily overalls after working on his car for a few days and my wife washed them on the 30min quick wash and they came out nearly spotless.
ckdesigner very nice offer there to melb,
I often go past your shop as i live in ware, lovely part of the country.0 -
There is some confusion here with the warranty. Often the high street supplier who sells the equipment will have "bought out" the warranty from the original manufacturer and that is often the case with Comet, in which case your first call is to Comet. However the manufacturers of high end kit often retain the warranty themselves and then you need to contact them direct. If this is the case there will be a warranty card in the machine? If so did you complete it or have you asked Miele if they provide the warranty?
I had a problem with my new Bosch dishwasher - which is serviced by Bosch - as the contents were not drying properly, plastic and metal in particular. I called out Bosch and the engineer told me that although I was using an all in one washing tablet, the way it was designed, I needed to put in separate rinse aid as well. (There was a rational explanation which I forget at the moment). It worked.
I have to say my new Hotpoint washing machine is just as noisy as my old Electra and it too vibrates a bit. Nor does the 1600 rev cycle get things noticeably drier than the old 1000 cycle. I think some of the claimed improvements these days are only by comparison to early bargain priced models not the better quality ones. But then my machine is not a Miele which are is sold as super quiet and super stable. They are installed in all the latest luxury homes so noise and vibration would certainly be noticed.
Have you actually had a service call?0
