So disappointed with my Miele washing machine

    Hi,

I would advise to read instruction manual fully and go by the suggestions, you will find that this machine will be a completely new learning curve for you as any new washing machine would be whether a Miele or a cheapy! Your previous machine as you have said was a Hotpoint, the chances are it would have used twice as much water and energy to do the job and with these older machines that used a lot more water it would have been much more forgiving. If you put it on the wrong program the large amount of water would cushion the wash if put on a too strong cycle and absorb more of the dirt if put on a too weaker wash.

As all modern machines use a lot less water it is much more important to use the correct program. So as I say read the book fully and then if still in doubt contact Miele product advice and they will easily be able to talk through things with you.

Also as previously mentioned by another poster, once you have got these wobbles sorted you will be pleased you purchased a Miele like everyone else, as without question Miele washing machines wash better than any other machine on the market.

    Good luck

Yes, linen should be at 60C to kill the mites - but unless you have any allergies one can share the bed quite comfortably with some bed bugs.
They won't be just on the sheets - they prefer the mattress!
A steam cleaner is a good investment for people with allergies, the 100C steam kills em instantly

I don't have particular hygiene reasons personally (!) but was reading that sheets should be always be washed at a temperature of at least 60 degrees to kill any bed bugs/dust mites etc or anything else that might be lingering.

Oops :o, wasn't being personal or anything, was thinking more of if your children had asthma or any other kind of problem which needed a hotter wash. Probably should have explained what I was thinking in my reply.

This is the front of mine is yours similar to it
everyone I have ever met who owns a Miele is
    really pleased with it

    DSC0.jpg

that section that is cottons I do all my whites on this
40c wash seldom use higher with Ariel the one in
    the green box,I get excellent results,occasionaly I
I use 60c,in fact I call it my rescue wash when
anyone I know has ruined anything in their own
machine I pop it in mine and its usualy back to
normal using this cycle.the wash on this cycle
takes up to 157 mins but that depends on
the weight inside. Also when doing the washing
for my mum I had to wash to a hospital standard
to avoid infection and this wash cycle and this machine
    handled it really well.

Mostly I use the quick wash cycle lasts 31 mins
and washes(40c),rinses and spins on the top speed
again everything I put in comes out fine but I
usualy have this just half or maybe two thirds full.

Next to it is a mixed wash same as before but is longer
and takes 118 mins spins at 1200rpm but I pop it onto
the drain & spin takes 8 mins and spins it out at
1600rpm,I can do a full load on this.

I am so going to attack this machine with stardrops
    seeing it in this pic

still not happy. I had already read through the instruction book before first time I used it but had another read through just in case. another load came out with stains - this time done on a 40 degree wash. Rang Miele who were helpful but had no suggestions apart from check the water was heating up - it is. they're sending me some of their own make powder to try which I'll use at the weekend. am I expecting too much? My 27 year of Zanussi washed most things clean - that is all I'm expecting from my Miele. Oh and it's not even quiet! sorry to be such a downer but I'm so disappointed as it's an awful lot of money. I'd gathered all the dirty bits of washing (post wash obviously!) to take to comet on Monday but thought what will they say? To me it's a faulty machine and I would like a replacement but doubt I'd get anywhere with comet. If it was anything else I'd just grin and bear it but unclean washing is not something I can accept.

Oh melb, how disappointing. Give that powder they're sending a try and if it doesn't work see what Comet have to say. If they're unhelpful then I'd ring Miele back and let them know what Comet have said and ask them to suggest where you go from there.

My d-i-l's Miele is very quiet so I really think you might have a rogue machine there, what we used to call a Friday afternoon product (workers keen to get off home for the weekend so anything made on a Friday afternoon probably didn't get quite as much attention as something made earlier in the week!).

My d-i-l's first machine was a Whirlpool and a nightmare from the start. They had the engineer out so many times, and it ended up making holes in clothes as well as something like oil on them, that it was eventually replaced by Whirlpool. Hence buying a Miele this time, but like I say hers has been a dream.

Let us know how you get on.

It is not going to be poor machine design, you either have a big fault on it or is a usage issue. A typical German machine will take much more than an hour to complete a wash, is yours taking really long as it should? To make sure the heater is working, try placing hand on the glass door after 30 mins of wash cycle. Biological liquids may work less well at 60 than 30 as the Enzymes (that do the cleaning work) can get killed off at higher temperatures.

Whilst I don't have a Miele, 2 hours seems like a hell of a long wash?
