Thanks Chrysalis
Sadly, I've been under 7k before, I guess that light bulb was only flickering and wasn't properly on eh? This time... the mantra of a DFW, this time it'll be different.
Sold one item on ebay today, posted out this afternoon so that's £45 profit after ebay fees. Two more things listed, every little helps. I've put the money (along with the CB money) into my savings account. The more I can keep money in that account (and add to it, and not spend it), the less likely I'll be to have to resort to the credit cards to fund the end of the Mat leave.
So, spend today was £1.70 on postage, and that's it.0 -
Right, 2 weeks til payday. Aiming to have £300 left on payday which will be saved for future use.
Have sold another ticket on viagogo, that was posted yesterday so money should go in the bank soon. Also owed £60 by my mum which I will get tomorrow. Will stick that in the savings account.
Still can't drive for another week or so, so one tank of fuel has lasted 2 months (OH drives my car on occasion, has used about half a tank of fuel). My car needs some work doing on it so I may put it in the garage at some point soon. Planning on walking everywhere over the winter months so that should save money. We've given consideration to getting rid of one of the cars but we'll both need one when I'm back at work so I don't think it's a goer on a longer term basis.
Feeling very lethargic as I have a cold, earache, toothache and an infection in my c section wound. Dosing myself up on antibiotics (at least the prescription is free!) paracetamol and cough medicine. Booked a dentist appointment but it's not until December (again, at least it's an NHS dentist though, and it's free).0 -
Busy few weeks, but made it to payday able to put £250 in the savings account, which is good. Also been paid more than I expected this month so that's good as well.0

Debt down to £6400. Might make sub £6k before Xmas!
Have treated myself to a new bag (well, it's going to be my Xmas present from OH but he doesn't know it yet) in the Amazon Black Friday sales.
I've also discovered I spend money far too quickly when I have cash in my purse, so I'm going to stop carrying a lot of cash, and just keep less than £20 in there, along with change.0 -
I have substantially raided the Amazon Black Friday sales. However, in my defence, this has been for Christmas presents. Have sorted my niece and friend's LO. Need to pick up something for my brother and SIL, my mum and a couple of friends and I'm sorted.
Also got (not in sale but cheap enough) a travel steriliser and bottle warmer as these will be invaluable when we visit extended family and are out and about.
Am debating getting rid of my CDs. I have hundreds. If I do decide to do this, it'll probably take a good few months to rip them all to my laptop. The thing is, I love having hard copies of things, reading sleeve notes and fully appreciating the music product. I'm not sure I'm ready to get rid of them yet.0 -
Not much happening debtbusting wise here. Payday a week today. Xmas all sorted.
In an attempt to organise myself and stop baby things taking over the house, I've got a basket in the front room with all manner of baby things in it (nappies, spare clothes, socks, wipes, bibs etc) and I've felt bad about just recycling formula tins so got some sticky-backed plastic (very blue peter) and have been making storage containers with them. Have done some as Christmas presents for friends (filled with little trinkets and chocolates) and will try to use the rest around the house to organise myself.
I have some baby clothes still with tags on. I'm going to try to sell them on ebay after Christmas I think. In a bundle they should hopefully sell.0 -
Focus has been on getting organised instead of debtbusting at the moment, but when I'm doing stuff round the house I'm not spending at least!
This month is the first month where I'll see a drop in wages on maternity pay, but will try to avoid using anything out of the savings if I can. Trying to survive on as little as possible.0 -
Hope people have had a lovely Christmas. I have! Not spendy, just nice.
In excellent news, I'm ending the year with the debt at under 6k (£5981 to be exact). Really, really pleased.
I have made a few sale purchases, mostly stuff for baby but a jacket and dress for myself (wants, not needs). Have some Christmas presents to take back (baby clothes that are too small) so will try to swap those for larger sizes. Not actually been out to the sales as I don't agree with the shops opening boxing day, just online. Am done with sales now though.0 -
OH had promised his mates he'd meet them in the pub. That's fine, I don't have a problem with that, apart from he expected me to lend him some money for drinks. I've had enough of lending him money full stop, so said no and shocked him. I think in the end he managed to scrape enough for one drink. I've made clear that if he doesn't sort himself out moneywise he can go and live at his mother's. There is no point me flogging my a*se off doing surveys and ebaying if he p*sses his spare cash up the wall on crap.
He's doing overtime tomorrow, so that will help. I have told him that if he manages his money better he won't have to do overtime and can therefore spend more time with his child but that's down to him.
Rant over. I'm enjoying a mulled wine now as baby is asleep.0
