I bought a second hand electric breast pump after breaking my manual in 6 weeks lol. You can also hire them :-)

  • ooh thanks for that, I didn't know you could hire them. Don't want to be paying out loads until I know that I can definitely breastfeed so that's something to consider if it works out ok.

  • Lunch with workmates yesterday, made some cakes and desserts, parked for free, didn't buy anything, so that was fun (and free!).
Also planning a NSD today as well as not going to leave the house.

I have a list of jobs that I would like to tackle before baby arrives (just little ones, like clean the microwave or sort out a cupboard) so I'll try to do one a day. Also want to do some cooking today - trying to defrost the freezer so not so much by way of batch cooking but definitely some stuff that'll do us over the weekend and use up veg etc.
  • Spent today, but only a quid for a loaf. Used up some freezer food and decluttered some chocolate that had gone off (yes chocolate really does go off, and amazingly it happened in this house! I'm so ashamed :) ).

I have just discovered some strawberry dessert packet mixes in the approved food box so that has been made up for later (better than making cakes). There are also some packs of el cheapo super noodles so we can use those when we next make a stir fry (without the packet of flavouring) which saves buying any more noodles.

One drawer has been done in the kitchen, and I've been able to store some of the cookware/oven pans etc in there which clears up some of the clutter. Next is to have a look at the world tupperware collection which we've (I admit, me) accummulated over the years. That should free up some space in a food cupboard.
  • I have done nothing today! At least it was a NSD but I got back from seeing a friend at 2pm and fell asleep on the couch, didn't wake up until 6 and am still tired now. Early night for me.
Have decluttered some food from the freezer for tomorrow and tonight's tea, and am currently decluttering some mystery chocolates (no instructions as to what is what so it's all guesswork).
Tomorrow will make it 3 weeks til payday, finance wise all is OK at the moment.

Your MW should be able to point you in the direction of hire if not contact your local NCT group. Must admit I couldn't be bothered to express second time round so ended up selling my second hand pump on for the same amount I spent on it!

  • Back in the land of the living! Baby is now here, in somewhat dramatic circumstances, and after a week and a bit I'm just getting to grips with things. Breastfeeding didn't work out so that's going to be an added expense but I feel much less stressed bottle feeding and it's working for us, and baby seems to be doing well so it's swings and roundabouts.

Money wise, not spending much as not really going out much! One week until payday. Have been offered 12 month 0% balance transfer on the credit card so I think I'll take that up and transfer the barclaycard balance (2k) - just need to find the barclaycard so I can do that! The barclaycard was on 6.9% life of balance but they're regularly offering balance transfers so hopefully by this time next year if there's any balance left on it I can get another offer and transfer it back.
  • I can't find the barclaycard, it's upstairs somewhere I think. I will find it out tomorrow. Also need to send off the child benefit forms tomorrow, and pick up a few things from tesco.
Also need to fire off a complaint to argos (need to find the receipt) and get back onto the surveys.
The good thing is that not going out means I'm not spending anything, although I can predict that I'll be frequenting costa coffee a lot when I do start going out with baby.
It doesn't feel like I can do much debt wise at the moment, I need to think about how I can be making some money.
  • Child benefit forms done, tesco shop done, barclaycard not yet done but that's a job for the weekend, as is argos.
OH doing overtime tomorrow so it'll be the first day when it's just me on my own looking after baby - scary times! Found a voucher for £2 off nappies so will use that next time I go to tesco (also have voucher for £4 off £30 spend). Rain forecast all weekend so will have to use the tumble dryer (booo). However, rain also means not going out which means no spending.
Got someone coming round tomorrow to buy a buggy accessory I listed on a facebook group, so that's an extra £15 for us. Some other stuff listed but no interest as yet.
As I'm off work I need to start menu planning, especially once OH is back in work. It'll only be evening meals but I can be very haphazard so need to really get on board with it.
