Not Tiny, Not Courageous, but definitely in debt

  • Didn't get to argos but the chest of drawers I wanted has gone up in price (grrrr) so I don't mind so much not buying it yet.

Spent a little bit in tesco and went out for tea. Quite cheap though.

5 days til payday. We are apparently getting backpay this month from our incredibly generous (!) 1% payrise. I know I should be grateful for having a job but considering we haven't had a payrise in 5 years (don't you love working for a local authority) it's not exactly worth shouting from the rooftops over. Still, it's better in my pocket than theirs.

I have cancelled a work related subscription which was £15 a month (and due to go up to £20 as I've been qualified 5 years). I need to phone sky at some point for some "negotiations" but I'll leave that for a bit.

Decluttering wise, the boot is full of stuff for the charity shop. Each time I go to the wardrobe I'm trying to take another thing that is never worn out of it for the charity bag. If I haven't worn it in a year, I probably won't again, is my view.

Am also starting to declutter my desk at work, as I'll have to bring all my personal stuff home when I go on Mat leave.

Money wise, got enough to last til payday with probably a little left over. Don't think we need any shopping apart from bread for the week. Operation use things up is in full force. Might have a baking day tomorrow.
  • Made some cakes and some veggie moussaka today, which will do for tomorrow's tea and enough moussaka to freeze one as well. Going to attempt to make hummus in a bit - could be interesting!

Just waiting for OH to get home from doing overtime. Had a nap this afternoon, which definitely helped the energy levels. Haven't done the ironing but it's mostly his to be honest.

NSD today, we do need bread but can do without until tomorrow. 4 days til payday!
  • Yearly credit card statement arrived today, have paid off £2600 over the last twelve months which is pretty good considering. £2200 left to go.

Gas and electric bill came, not so good, direct debit up to £120 a month combined - it's been really low (£77) over the last 6 months so payments are to get it back up to an even keel.

Payday thursday, checked wage slip today and overtime and backpay both paid so that'll cover 12 months car tax due in September.

Was today a NSD? went to the corner shop to get bread but used some change that OH left on the side, so technically it wasn't my money :)

Going out for lunch with some girls from work tomorrow, should be nice and fairly cheap as they do a special lunch menu at the restaurant we're going to, and being upduffed I'm only drinking water when I'm out nowadays.

Waiting for a freecycler who is so far nearly 2 hours late. Pain in the backside. At least two did turn up on time.

    3 days til payday.

I have a very giddy baby in here who's kicking hell out of my stomach. It's a lovely feeling.
  • So I figured it's about time I did another SOA, just to keep a record of where I'm up to. It's been a long time since I last did one!

  • Watching GBBO and desperate for cake but I can't have any due to gestational diabetes. I want cake dammit!

I know, that's not moneysaving in the slightest.
  • Payday tomorrow! Made it to payday without needing to get petrol (although will probably need it tomorrow), and £80 left in the bank.

Got some home improvements being done this week, aim is for £500 to come out of the savings and £300 from wages, which should be fine. Much needed home improvements, I must admit! Once those are done the house will be pretty much organised and I will be a very happy bunny!

NSD today, didn't leave the office. Picking up a few bits from Wilkos tomorrow and will get petrol I think.
  • Payday is here! A few spends today - petrol, a few bits from Wilkos (paint, storage boxes for stuff to be put in the loft) and ice cream (an essential).

Usually I make an overpayment on the barclaycard, but I'm just going to do minimum payments for now. Loan payment is out tomorrow and most of the direct debits.

And it's nearly the bank holiday! I'm planning on spending it stripping wallpaper, painting and cleaning. Talk about an exciting life eh?
  • Aim of the weekend is not to spend anything. Not yet left the house so doing alright so far today!
So far done two loads of washing, although drying is not looking good. Also decluttered a bag of crap from the bedroom, a bag of stuff for the charity shop (stuff I have no idea where it came from, so I have no problem getting rid of it) and found space for some make up that was just lying around the kitchen (who knows why).
  • Had a small spend for a birthday present for a friend yesterday, and treated the OH to a half price trifle in Morrisons.

DIY today - stripping wallpaper, what fun! It's lovely to have a three day weekend, and the working week feels much nicer when it's only 4 days.
  • Am booking a few days off spread over my last few weeks before mat leave tomorrow, starting to get really exhausted now. It will still leave me with 4 weeks of annual leave that I can tag onto the end of my mat leave though, which is great as it will mean 4 weeks on full money before I go back!

House is starting to come together and look decent, got some work being done Saturday, then some new carpets to be ordered, some furniture to be delivered and I will feel incredibly happy.

Moneywise, not spent much this week so far. Need to get some birthday cards tomorrow and a gift for a friend. Did treat myself to 2 punnets of strawberries and 2 cartons of cream for £2.50 total yesterday. Bargain.

On a mission to use up everything in the freezer, so veggie sausages and chips for tea, with gravy. Yum!
