Not Tiny, Not Courageous, but definitely in debt

was sat at home last night, OH at work, craving a takeaway so ridiculously much, but resisted, and made myself something out of what was in the fridge. I'm quite surprised at myself as I don't generally have the willpower to resist food. Or anything else for that matter.
Not sure why I'm up so ridiculously early, am going to wander round the house trying to find things that I could ebay/give to charity shop/throw away as I'm sick of living in a pigsty.
Need to go and buy some cheese and then take a serious look at the cupboards to meal plan for this week. Will be making carrot and lentil soup for work, there's lots of pasta, tinned veg, so will do something with all that.
There's a big bag of paper recycling to go and I need to find out if there is somewhere that does fabric recycling as I found out a load of old towels, clothes with broken zips etc, that need to go as well.
Just paid £71 off the lloyds credit card to make it a nice round number. Generally I tend not to make additional payments until I'm getting close to the next payday because I want to ensure I'm not overdrawn, but then psychologically I think "ooh I've done well, still got money left by payday, I'll treat myself". So I'm going to try paying extra earlier, and then maybe I'll think "right, no money left, can't buy anything".0 -
A good afternoon was had by all yesterday. I did spend some money (on a birthday gift and card) but it all came out of my £25.50 cash so I now have £16.50 left. Need to go and get some cheese today to go with all the random meals on this week's meal plan.
Have got some stuff to list on ebay today, as I found a few bits while searching the house yesterday. Also really do need to get a decent sized memory stick so that I can wipe the PC's memory and then get rid of the PC - think OH's brother is having it. It's old as all hell but alright for getting online and email. Then we're moving the desk to the spare room (I think). I'll try not to give OH too many jobs though, he gets a bit giddy if you give him loads of jobs to do!0 -
Ebay listing done. I'm terrible for constantly checking if I've got any bids, so that'll be me for the next week or so.
Also put carrots, lentils, some chicken stock, water, grated ginger and a garlic clove in the slow cooker so we'll see how that turns out as a soup for next week's lunches. Also have found an old memory stick so I'll put everything that's on there onto this laptop and then can use that to save everything off the PC. That'll be this afternoon's job by the look of it.0 -
Most chores done already, can't seem to lie in anymore. Probably a good thing though, only get two days off a week after all!
Made it through the week with £10 left, went out for a meal last night though so that was a bit spendy. 11 days til payday though, did a big shop yesterday so don't need much foodwise (although I do now have a voucher for £6 off £40 spend at tesco so I might stock up).
Lots of watchers on ebay, hopefully they'll start bidding soon!
Surveys this morning, am getting close to another payout on GTM and VO so that's good. Pays for a weeks shopping at least!0 -
Just found some DVD box sets to sell on ebay as well. It's an entire series and looking at completed listings is still pretty popular so thrown it on at a BIN with best offer just to see. Be great if I could sell and a nice little addition to the credit card fund. I'm basically looking at my house thinking "how much crap do I own?" A load of it isn't worth ebaying, but the stuff that is will be listed. Had a look on music magpie but figured as it's free listing weekend I'll list a load of dvds and see what I get if anything.
I have a lot of books that I can't bear to get rid of. I did have a big clear out of books once but then ended up buying them again. I love reading, especially classics, and I love the image of a bookcase filled with so many different books. It's a part of the house that I do love. The DVDs and stuff we never really watch, so don't have so many.0 -
Ended up making about £150 on ebay which I'm well happy with, far more than I expected for a few old DVDs but you never know what folk will buy!
Payday today so paid the year's car tax, £200 off credit card number 1, £121.91 off credit card number 2 (to make it a nice round number) and once the money comes through from paypal that will be another £150 off card number 1. Also cashed out 1000points on GTM so that should be around £25 winging my way.0 -
So far this weekend money wise I've avoided a takeaway, cancelled OH's AA membership (will get him a new one but at a cheaper price and through quidco), changed direct debit dates for Sky and gas/electric to the day after payday.
Also found some cherry tomatoes in the bottom of the fridge so roasted them with some garlic, will mix with pasta and some whoopsied mozzarella for work lunches this week, made a lovely tea last night which I'm finishing off for lunch, and will make some apple crumbles to freeze later. Also have got all the washing done, most of it dried so the ironing pile looks formidable but defeatable for this afternoon while the football is on.
Charity shop bag is filling up, I keep finding the odd thing to throw in it, every little helps towards decluttering. The kitchen is slowly starting to look better as I'm trying not to let paperwork take it over, and putting as much away in the cupboards as possible so that the surfaces are clear.
The way I see it, the more I potter about at home tidying, the less I'm actually spending! And you never know what you might find that's worth ebaying. Need to sort out my clothes next.0 -
I am a woman on a mission today. Decluttered the kitchen, did all the washing and ironing and put it away, cleared the bathroom, did a shopping list for tomorrow, sorted all my paperwork (had a mild panic because I couldn't find my car insurance documents but then found them in the "to be filed" section of my paperwork file), filled a bag with stuff for the charity shop, made lunch for work for the next 3 days, made a list for the wedding invites, and found cheap hotel rooms for anyone who wants to stay over before/after the wedding.
It's really nice to have everything done on a Sunday afternoon. Means I can chill out this evening, although now I'm in the headspace of tidying I want everything done now!
Also my football team won which is good!
Might treat myself to a nice glass of red now, I think I've earned it.0 -
It's been a busy month! Just received a cheque from GTM so that's to be paid in on monday. Getting screened out on a lot of surveys at the moment but what can you do? Just keep plodding on and the money trickles in. I am being sent a lot of surveys though so maybe one of the prize draws will eventually come through.
Not long till the wedding now, still a fair bit to organise but we're getting there.0 -
Well I haven't posted for a while, been a little bit busy getting married. Wedding was wonderful, everything we wanted it to be.
However, this has meant the debt has increased. I shall do a new SOA in the new year as there have also been changes at work which mean extra money but I won't know how much until I get my next wage slip. Planning to spend the next year being frugal (no weddings to pay out for!) so we'll see how that goes. Things have kind of slipped in terms of not buying lunch and not spending lots of money on clothes, but I do have lots of new suitable clothes for work now (and a new winter coat) so no excuses to be buying much more.
Am managing to keep the mobile bill to £15 a month, and haven't got a PPV on sky for months now so that's another area I've done quite well in. Have been making bits here and there on ebay, which is good, and which hopefully will continue in the new year when we gut the spare room.
Anyway, now the wedding is over, I'm well and truly on the debtbusting trail so I'll probably post more often. Fingers crossed I keep it up this time!0
